If you owned your home in 2005 (which I did, lucky for me!) you are entitled to a rebate thru the STAR program. It depends on how much all the owners of the property made in 2005 (so maybe you and FH, maybe you and your parents - whoever is the deeded property owner). You'll be getting something in the mail about it in a few days - my FH's grandma just got hers and showed it to us so we're so excited for ours now! I checked out the website and it looks like we're going to get about $400 back - going straight into the wedding account!!!!

Nice!!!! I'm surprised you've never heard of it before. You only apply once and you continue to receive it yearly. At the end of every year we get a tax statement letting us know the discount.

Yes, we did that too - but apparently everyone in NY State was overcharged in 2005!!
