My and my FI went started our reception hall search yesterday. We're looking at September 2008. Yesterday we checked out Westbury Manor and Verdi's of Westbury. I'm in love with Westbury Manor!! It's perfect! I do want to take a peek at a couple more places just to be sure though. I was offered a drink on the house while I waited to speak to someone. I met with the BM, Mel. He gave us a tour of the facility and it is just perfect. After the tour we were shown to his office where they had a chocolate fondue plate set up for us and a rose for me. I felt like royalty, even in my jeans and t-shirt. We'll be using the Hill room upstairs, we're having about 50-60 guests. The cocktail hour will be in the room across the hall. I want to have my ceremony outdoors and they have a beautiful chapel garden. He said we would have to do a saturday or sunday afternoon if we are having a ceremony. The ceremony will cost $650, and he said it includes the cost of flowers down the aisle and on the arch in front. The officiant will cost $325. Ceremony total = $975. He said they would set up a continental breakfast for our guests for before the ceremony (danish, muffins, strawberries, etc). Then after the ceremony the cocktail hour begins with the works. After the cocktail hour we would move to the Hill room across the hall. We did recieve the 7 choice dinner menu. Open premium bar, wine on the tables with dinner, chair covers and ribbons included. Okay here's the prices for a Sunday afternoon plus tax and tip. Jan, Feb, Mar - $55/person April - $70 Sept, Oct - $75

Well you certainly can't compare Westbury Manor to Verdi's of Westbury. They are both in completely different categories although the price you were quoted for Westbury Manor is ridiculously cheap. Possibly due to time of year and your amount of guests they can use the smaller rooms there. I was quoted $135...big difference IMO I think Verdi's is a very pretty place, I hosted my mom's surprise 50th birthday there and was very happy with everything...and I'm sure there are bride's out there that may not be able to afford other venues and Verdi's of Westbury is their dream wedding place.

I'm not trying to knock Verdi's but I just didn't envision my wedding there. I think it would be perfect for a birthday or a sweet sixteen. Also their website was a little misleading about the outdoor photo area. My real problem with them was the BM when I went to visit. He looked sloppy (stained shirt, etc) and didn't really try to sell us the place. He couldn't even show us the room they use as a chapel because it was locked and he didn't have the keys. He just walked us around and then handed us a price sheet. Maybe ten minutes total.

Me and FH are looing at three places today. We changed our minds again! Larkfield is still up there but today we are heading to the Westbury Manor, Floral Terrace and Huntington Townhouse.
From the website we fell in love with Westbury Manor and just hope that the room is as beautiful in person! Jesse called to make the appt and he just loved the lady he spoke to because she was all polite and proper. So I am glad that a few of you are loving westbury manor.
Anybody visit floral terrace or the huntington townhouse?

sorry to butt in! We went to the Huntington Townhouse when we were looking for a hall and both felt really uncomfortable there. Maybe it was just who we met with...
We LOVED our wedding at the WM! (yes, I am biased)

I haven't visited Floral Terrace but I went to the Huntington Townhouse. I was turned 'off' by the BM.

yes we decided not to even look at huntington townhouse that day because...well we fell in love with floral terrace.
you know BM's should really understand that even if they have a beautiful place they should act like they want our business. And if they do want our business don't talk like you have been drinking. Westbury Manor is a beautiful place but the bm was talkin to us and we swore she had a few before. She kept repeating what she said...kept leaving the room and coming back in without the thing she left to bring inside.
really weird. and im not bashing the place. I liked it, alot...floral terrace was just a better fit for jesse and I.

yes i agree the bm should definitely act as if it was their own business. I 've been to a few places were they acted really weird or they were rude.
