well i already have a band so no live musicians... i am gonna do uplighting and from what ive seen in quotes its aroun 800-1500 for that, but how much does the actualy dj go? and mc?

Try Vinnie at High Voltage Sounds, I wanted to add uplighting to my DJ package and it was a lot less than the quotes you posted.

Well, I've started searching. I want a DJ who is there for the 4hr reception possibly 1 hour cocktail and ceremony. None of the uplighting, fog, etc etc.
And I am having a hard time keeping it under 1500 liked I hope. From the ones that I've found that are more DJs who actually spin at clubs etc. None of the super cheesy ones....
Let me know if you find any good ones lower than 1500.

i paid 1300 for my uplighting and i believe the breakdown of the dj mc was 1100

we were really happy w picking afterhours. we are not having CH music. and we are having lighting (not uplighting since the hall has that) and a live musician. dj and mc.

i think if you want alot of lighting, uplighting and dc and mc...i would guess like 2-5k. we were in the middle of that range for what we got

I think if you wanted basic it would start at $800 for 4 hrs and goes way up.

For about $3000+ you can get CH music, 4 hr Reception, club lighting or vertical truss lighting, a customized name plate, candid zap shots (about 150) with a CD of all shots at end of night, two 50' plasmas with live feed of dance floor, a musician of choice for CH and one for reception like percussionist or vocalist, lighted DJ booth, montage of 40-60 pics, MC and DJ for 5 hrs.

I know it is a hike for you to come out to Suffolk but Tommy Tunes is really great. They are reasonably priced and so professional. I have been to many events with them and they never fail

I'm paying $1675 for 2 50' plasmas, zap shots, zap shots at church, 3 man team, lights, etc.

I just booked my DJ. I talked to several while researching DJs - the cheapest were those in the $1K range (for MC and DJ, no fancy lights). I am getting uplighing and MC/DJ for a total of $2295 ($500 deposit paid). I thought it was a pretty good deal because I have heard nothing but excellent reviews.

I also went to DJ showcases for FM Entertainment, Parties Alive, DJ Fusion, Variety Music. All of them had similar prices (a good DJ usually starts at $1500) but with lighting and extras (percussionist, gobo lights, etc), the price shot up to over $3K or $ 4K.

So I would def budget between $1500-2500 as a safe range.
