Starting Pre Cana this Sat

FH and I are starting Pre Cana Sat morning.

What should we expect? It is being held at the church by another couple.

What do we wear also?

They will talk about all the different elements that make a marriage. It was not a lecture but rather just a happy couple guiding and sharing their experiences with you. Not so much of telling you how things should be in a marriage but how to improve on things that can help your relationship with your partner.

Sweater, jeans and boots. Nothing fancy.

Do you know who the couple will be?

No, it isnt even my church.. infact it isn't even my religion. LOL I am Lutheran FH is Catholic and we are getting married in a Catholic church.

Its really not bad at all. It shows you better ways to communicate with your fiance. I actually kind of liked it. I did the long program. We always wore jeans and a sweater and flats. It was very casual. It wont be that bad I promise.

Long program???? I don't know what that is. We have it for 4 Sat's in a row from 10-12 in the morning...

It's not bad at all. The couple in charge usually picks a different topic each week (communication, differences in family and upbringing, religion and the sacrament of matrimony, etc.) and discuss it with the group. We had worksheets which we filled out and then shared our answers with each other. We weren't forced to share things with the group if we didn't want to. The purpose is basically to make sure you and FH discuss these important issues together before getting married. It's actually kind of nice, when executed properly. You'd be amazed how many NEVER discuss these kinds of things before jumping into a marriage, only to end up fighting about them later.

P.S. - Ours is really casual, so I just wear jeans and sweater.

I guess it depends on the church. Ours was different each week. The first week we had a married couple talk to us about the trials and tribulations during their marriage. The second week was a clinical psychologist / marriage counselor. The third was the church deacon.

We went in jeans and a sweater each week. Nothing fancy.
