starting to think about stressing...

starting to think about stressing...

...just a little bit, honest... But can you girls help me out?

So, some of you know that I started the dress search yesterday. I really only started because I got word of the david's bridal sale, and figured that it can't hurt to try things on... but now I feel like I have so much to do and it all ties in together, right??

I haven't finalized my bridal party (I think FH has, but he's so busy with so much work lately and I don't want to bombard him ALL the time with wedding stuff....) I want to finalize this, ask my girls to be in my wedding, and get all that settled soon so that I can talk to them about it and get advice and have their opinions, etc....

I also want to start seeing about venues and dates so that I have an idea and can start on save the dates and all that stuff. How soon should those be sent out? am I already too late for them if I'm doing an October wedding? I know it's going to be difficult as it is to get an October venue booked. I feel like all of this should have been done yesterday... or last month.... Am I being unrealistic about October?

Please help....

TIA

if yoru flexible, your fine.

First things first. Find a hall. Thats a must. What are you looking for? area? guest? price? etc we can help

STDs are great but not 100% needed, dont stress that.

dress shopping can be stressful, but there are so many stores you will be fine.

WP dont NEED that much time, but it would be helpful to think about that now too....

just breathe it will be fine

I think if places are available you can get good deals for Oct.

As for your bridal party... you can ask a few of them to come with you dress shopping. Imo I wouldn't actually ask them to be in your party until you and FH are 100% sure. But you can absolutely bring them shopping with you. They are still your friends.

And yes.. you still have time to send your save the dates. I'm sending mine out this weekend (hopefully if I get 2 more addresses from my Aunt and FMIL!)

Breathe. You still have time. My bf planned her wedding in 3 months. I'm oct 30th and I'm sending my stds either at the end of jan or the beginning of feb. Etiquette calls for 6 months or more in advance. I would start calling halls and see what's available and where. You may have a prob if you are looking for a Sat in Oct but I'm sure not everyone is booked as we are in a recession. Get together a prelim guestlist and start asking your bp. Figure out who is paying for what too and keep posting on here.

Hi! we're date twins!!!

In terms of how far along I am, I'm ordering my dress on Sat, and sending out save the dates in the end of Jan, so you def have time for both.

However, I would immediately start to look at RHs. I don't want to scare you, but when I was looking at places in Aug/Sep, a lot of places were already booked for a Sat night wedding, or their main room was booked and I'd have to go with a smaller 2nd room. If you're planning on a daytime or Fri or Sun night wedding, I'm sure you will have way more available.

Don't worry!!! It will all work out!!!

Re: starting to think about stressing...

Thank you so much already! I will definitely keep posting on here (even though that might be part of why I am not getting anything else done!!! )

I have started a guest list. still want to talk to FILs about it... budget is hard bc of my divorced and angry-with-each-other parents... they both think that I shouldn't have to bear the expense, but both also think that the other parent should... so I have to find a way to ask what i am looking at....

And you're right, i'm not asking anyone to be in my bp until I know that the numbers are right... (FH has 3 brothers and I have one, so that's already 4 on his side..) i almost feel bad bc mostly his side will be family and my side will be friends (except for my sis), so i feel bad for his friends who he's known longer and been closer to than some of my friends, you know???

i type too much.... sorry

THANKS still!!!

Rh and ceremony are #1 once you get those booked you can ask your BP and find a dress. October can be done. Figure out how many guest you wil be inviting and everything will fall into place. If do not need to do STD if you do , I sent mine out 6 mths before my wedding.

Re: starting to think about stressing...

it's alread too late to plan for October. Everything is probably booked and dresses take at least 6-9 months to make and that doesn't include alterations!! You are doomed!

Just kidding!!!

Seriously - you are FINE..People plan a wedding in 6 months or less and it turns out OKAY.

First thing is first - if you are looking at a church or temple wedding, find the church or rabbi/priest !! Some churches have specific days they do weddings.

If you aren't doing any religious ceremony, then the next step is to book the RH. You will need to guess how many people you plan on inviting. If you are having a small wedding (100 ppl or less), you should have more flexibility in terms of halls because the may negotiate with you so they can fill up the space.

The rest will fall into place naturally..

Good luck!

Re: starting to think about stressing...

Relax and breathe. These lovely ladies have given you some great advice!! Figure out a rough guest list/budget and then onto the hall. Also, I'd get cracking on that baptism, you might be required to take classes in order to be baptized. Good luck!
