Wedding Channel...

Q: Are There Different Types Of Save The Dates?

A: Save the dates provide guests advance notice of an upcoming wedding and are especially ideal for destination weddings. They can range from hip and trendy to more traditional and classic looking.

E-mails: Create a personalized e-mail or e-card to announce your wedding plans to your guests. These inexpensive save the dates are fun, easy, and can save a lot of time while allowing you to be creative.

[[[[[[(from another web page STD Ideas )Electronic Save-The-Dates: More recently I have received two Save-The-Date emails from different services. Both were for smaller weddings and were certainly efficient. The only drawback was that I couldn't put something small and colorful on my refrigerator to remind me!]]]]]]

Magnets: A fun and useful way to remind your guests of your wedding day is with a save-the-date magnet. You can make it comical, post your picture on it, or keep it simple with just the important information.

Cards: Save-the-date cards are a classic way to inform guests of your upcoming nuptials. You can choose from designs that suit your style or theme, or cards that complement your wedding-day colors. They can range from informal to formal, but are usually the size of a standard invitation or postcard.

Unique: You can also have scratch-off cards that reveal your wedding-day info, a calendar that marks off the days till your “I dos,” or just about any wedding theme or hobby that reminds your guests which date to save.

Re: STD help

I've seen Post-it Notes (you can buy printable ones at Staples)
and Bookmarks (VERY cute - the couple had a pic of themselves on it, reading wedding books, and it said 'Book the Date!').

But you can put your info on anything imprintable - mouse pads, coffee mugs, etc.

I love the bookmark idea. I'm thinking of doing that since I'm a librarian.

I'm a fan of the bookmark- it's practical. Although, the magnet is something you see all the time if it is put on the fridge. We are doing a brochure entitled 'Join us for a Wedding Weekend in Wine Country' It will provide guests with all the info. especially accommodation info. The style will be very similar to what you get when you are looking to go somewhere- the goal is to get people really into coming out and spending the weekend. Other ideas would be... personalizing stationary like mentioned- I love post-its. I like the electronic idea... hmm, this is harder than I thought Good luck if I think of anything more I'll come back!

My friend who did it was a librarian! She was an 07 bride and posted it, here I'll show you:

07 crasher ! :) Ok as someone that did magnets and all, I will say DONT MAKE YOURSELF NUTS! Honestly, when I and several othe rpast brides Ive spoken to look back, STDs are one thing we wish we didnt break our heads over. Yes you want them to be pretty and unique but the magnets are very overpriced even for a DIY. If I could do it over, I'd just do postcard STD's with a cute fun design; simple, cheap and pratical. I really liek the bookmarks though.
