I just wrote the name to be safe. Technically, I don't believe '& guest' ever goes on the mailing envelope.

Didn't include 'and guest'. Also, combined names in the same household (would get separate invitations), since they are magnets and only have 1 fridge.

I've read this too. I didn't put 'and guest'. It's a save the date, not an invitation. My cousin sent me a STD with 'and guest' on it and I was livid. FH and I have been together 9 years and that's how long she's known him!

That's AWFUL! I am trying to avoid 'and guest' altogether (obviously I have to use it for those not in relationships) but I've been asking all my friends in new-ish relationships if they wanted '& guest' or a specific name. I feel like '& guest' is just rude sometimes.

This might sound like a stupid question (and I know FH will also ask me this) but If I just put the guest name on the envelop for the STD's, will someone assume I'm just inviting them only without a guest?

It's a save the date, not an invitation. I haven't received any concerned calls from friends or family about whether or not they'll be invited with a guest because of the way the STD was addressed.

I added 'and guest.' I dont think you have too, but I just didnt want to deal with anyone's questions, concerns, and comments. We are inviting everyone over 18 with a guest so it wasnt an issue for us.

Thanks for the info. I might just do that too. A lot of our guests aren't married so they don't know 'wedding talk.' I don't want them thinking that they can't bring a date.
