Do both! Ha that is what i am doing. Magnet and two cards inserted. You can deff. do all three very easily and cheaply at home!

Well it depends on what you want to include. STD magnet is just fine, or its nice with a enclosed note also.

What I am doing is a magnet along with a single panel card announcing the engagement/telling them to save the date again and on the back of the card has my parents contact info, fh and I's contact info and his sister contact info (his parents are dead so his sister is stepping in for his side) then another card for hotel info for the out of towners.

It really depends on if your close to all your family members or not because we have been engaged since sept. 1st and i know for a fact 75% of FH's side doesn't know he is engaged or getting married and my half of the family travels a lot so we have to add more to the std then a magnet just can't all hold.
