So I'm curious -

Are you planning for your STD to match your invite or not? Will they match your wedding's general colors - the theme? Both?

I found a cute STD that's a play on a medieval princess/prince type wedding - something more historic that still sounds like a fairytale without crossing into cheesy.

Not in y colors - well. the gold - yes, blue no.

I'm doing a photo STD - so we decided to incorporate our same colors, but not to the exact design of our stationary.

As for yours - they sound real cute! I've read to keep things similar, in case you want to collage/frame/scrapbook your stationary. But I think some variety in there keeps it fun and interesting!

Our STD's don't match our theme or color at all.
They are 2 of our pics from being kids, morphed so it looks like we are sitting together. BUT my tables will have a pic of each of us at the age of the table number, so I guess it kinda ties into that LOL

They don't need to match at all IMO, but if you wanna kinda foreshadow ur wedding, it would be nice!

Mine will, but only because I'm using a free downloadable wedding suite template from weddingchicks.com, and its part of it. All the paper stuff is one place where I'm really trying to save money. If I wasn't, though, I would probably do photo STD's that were a little more fun and informal. I'd probably want to incorporate the same colors, though.

Mine won't match... I'm sending them out a year before the wedding and have no idea what my invites will look like.

I'm not doing my invite yet bc everyone says to wait in case something changes at the last minute. I am going to have my STD's match my colors though.

Where I'm getting my pictures taken and where I'm having my reception are two completely different places so I'm not worried about the STDs matching. I wouldn't worry about it. Usually the STDs I get have nothing to do with the actual wedding.

Mine don't match at all either. I don't think it has to. If you want to foreshadow, use your wedding website etc to foreshadow for the event.

Though your save the dates sound REALLY cute. Where did you find them?

I really want a castle outline (Think like a disney movie, where you see the outline of the castle as their logo)... but something more medieval looking (an outline of castle corners and a gate) running along either the top or bottom of the invite with a border.

My friend who is a graphic designer will be custom designing the invite set.

We are using gold as one of our two wedding colors, just not blue. It also fits our castle accents.

Once I purchase in the # I need, it's a $1 a piece. I'd probably go through that in stationary, ink and time.

My STD's aren't really matching the invites, there is going to be a little bit of my colors, but FH and I decided we wanted to have fun with the STD and then just do the invitation differently. Do what you want, it's your wedding and you make the rules HTH!

we did funny ones... because we have been dating so long I picked ones that kind of mocked our 11 yrs of dating

Edit : on the bottom it says would you look at that pigs really do fly

I'm doing a photo one, so it's really just going to match the colors. I don't want it to be waaaay out there though because I HATE when things don't match at ALL. I don't think it has to be exact as long as there is something that ties them together.

i used magnetstreet.com and didn't have pics of us we LOVED, so we just customized one of the designs they had in our colors. I don't think you even have to match colors, I just did it to cut down on how much thought would have to go into those darn magnet designs lol

I don't plan on matching mine. I prob will do whatever I think looks cute at the time, maybe in the same color scheme.

just sent mine out recently without my colors even officially picked out. as long as your invitation goes with theme/colors thats really i heard matters. save the dates go out usually too early to know what your invites will be.

I haven't ordered mine yet, but I don't think its very important for them to match your color or theme. It's nice if you can pull that off, but I don't even think a lot of people will realize unless its a pretty significant theme, so I am not too concerned with matching my STDs
