Step parents on invitations?

Step parents on invitations?

Let's say your parents are contributing a lot for the wedding. FH's parents are chipping in as well, but they are each divorced and remmaried. You are picking up the rest of the bill. How on earth do the invitations work? Do the step parents need to be on the invite? Would it be rude to leave them off? There are just SO many names! I was thinking of doing something like this:

Jane and John Doe
request the honor yada yada
Josie Lynn
to
Bobby John
son of Barbara Smith and Robert Jones
yada yada...

I really wanted to put my parents names on there. And I like the son of part. I just get rather confused about the step parents. He wasn't raised by either of them so it's sort of weird.

yes.

also, when did they get remarried?? if not until AFTER he was all grown up, you can kind of get away without using their names..but in reality, it could/will look mean on his/your part(s).

oh, and you likely would have the divorced parents on sep lines to avoid any confusion if you do choose to not include step-parents.

Not sure if you want to do this, but this is how we handled it because we have the same situation (all three sets of parents are contributing, with my parents paying for the bulk of it).

We did:

Bride's Mom and Dad
Groom's Mom and Stepfather
Groom's Dad and Stepmother
Invite you to share in their joy at the wedding uniting their children,
Bride
and
Groom

I agree with using the together with our families.....

we used our parents names, my father is remarried, my mother isn't. My step-mother made it perfectly clear that she did not want her name on the invite nor did she want to be part of the bridal procession because she didn't want to take my mother's day away from her.

We wanted to list everyone on the invites. Both of our parents are divorced and both of our dads are remarried. Here's what we did:

Ms. Mother of the Bride and
Mr. & Mrs. Father of the Bride
request blah blah
Julie
to
Shawn
son of Ms. Mother of the Groom and
Mr. & Mrs. Father of the Groom

yes, it is a lot of names but our parents were honored to be on the invites and they all helped out.
