sticky situation - step parent

sticky situation - step parent

Only 10 more weeks.....yippee! But as time goes a sticky situation has come up.
My parents divorced when I was young; my Dad re-married and has been married to my stepmother for 20 years. She is a great lady and has been very good to me. But she is NOT my real mom.

My REAL Mom passed away 2 years ago.
Even though my Mom is not physically here, she is here in her own way and I would NEVER include my stepmother in the actual ceremony.

I would, however like to include her in some way to make her feel included (and to make my Dad happy) and to recognize her in some way.

Having her come down the aisle is OUT OF THE QUESTION for me.

I am thinking of asking her to do a reading....is there any other way I can include her in my ceremony?

I think the reading would be nice. I know that there are a few brides that give the moms roses during the ceremony....would that be an option? Usually the bride gives the rose to FMIL and the groom gives a rose to your mom, but you could have him give it to your step mom instead.

I would have her do a reading...this way she feels like she is a part of everything & you don't hurt your Dad's feelings.

I would have her do a reading... and perhaps she could walk OUT with your father after the bridal party has gone up? (at the end...)

If your officiant asks the question 'who gives this woman in marriage?' you could have her stand up and answer with your father 'we do'

Sticky situation! good luck
