Still confused about whether to tip the band

I am have a 9 piece band that is not owned by a company. They do not require that they have meals but I am providing them with a meal. Should I still tip them? How much?

Do you have to pay for their meals? If you do, I would forgo paying for their meals and let them eat at the cocktail hour. That's what our band actually requested. In return we tipped each member of the band.
