still have not got my deposit back....

as some of you girls know, a while back in march i booked a place for our wedding, unfortunately we were just so excited that we didn't think it out and didn't make a guest list up. it turned out that we had way too many people, this place only holds 150(i dont know how though..its small). we thought we wanted a smaller wedding, but we can't.. big families and we don;t want to exclude anyone...

so, about only 2 weeks after booking, we had to cancel, i mean they have over a yea rto rebook, we booked for next july 2006, and we cancelled in march of 2005.

they REFUSED to give us back our refund, even though in suffolk county its a law that you have to refund it.

The manager there said we had to have it in writing, so we sent it certified mail to make sure they got it.. they refused to accept the letter because they knew it was from us.

Now we had to call the credit card company and now finally i jsut got a letter TODAY from the suffolk county executive and he is on the case and they are going to be in trouble.. all this for a lousy 1,000 dollars.

All they had to do was refund us the money, it was only 2 weeks, now the county executive had to get involved.

They had the nerve to not accept the certified letter.. like children

any way, jsut had to vent and BE CAREFUL GIRLS, dont make my mistake and make sure that you think about thiose things beforee you book anything. thanks for letting me vent

ok, first - sorry to hear that you are going through this - it totally s ucks!!

and second - there is no such thing as 'a louse $1000.' i know you didn't mean it quite so literally, but if it was $50, i'd be annoyed. just keep on top of it.

thanks, yea i didnt mean that literally, especially now more than ever its def. NOT a lousy 1000...lol i meant that its going to cost them more in the long run, they should just pay the 1000... thats what i meant

Aww Jen, sorry they're putting you thru all that!! Well I'm glad the county executive is getting involved now, they should take care of everything and get your $$ back. I can't believe they're being this difficult!!! Don't worry, it'll all be ok!!!

That's ridiculous, they know that they are not going to have any trouble booking that date again.....it is during peak wedding time. They just want to get under your skin, b/c they are not going to get anymore money from you. What real A--HOLES
