Still having a dilemma with timing

Still having a dilemma with timing

If you had a church ceremony at 2:30 and a reception at 8 PM... What would you do:

Choice A: There's a tiny chance (infinitesimally small) that I can move my reception up, but it's severely unlikely.

Choice B: Book a conference hall for wine and cheese and cold snacky-stuff at the hotel next door.

Choice C: Nothing, let my guests fend for themselves... this stuff happens, and they'll probably want to go home and change anyway.

I would try to move the reception up, if not, let them deal with it. When my cousin got married her church was at 2-30 in massapequa and reception at 7 in giorgios! Alot of us went back to my dad's in wading river in between...

mostly your family and close friends will come to your Ceremony ...the rest of the guess won't come til later in the reception. Since they are the closest to you i would say booking the conference room which probably won't be a lot since there won't be as many as in the reception. But if you can move up your reception it will be better! i will keep my fingers crossed for you girl ...sending you good vibes

Edited i just thought: have you tried asking your reception to see if they have something like that i know Jericho terrace has something for the early guests! ask them and see how they can help you

what do you plan on doing during this time? if you have things to do let the guests fend for themselves. I wish I had that much time to take pictures and check myself into the hotel

My plan is to be taking pictures at the hotel and in the gardens at Fox Hollow. I am not missing a minute of that cocktail hour.

i would try and move the reception up a little bit if u can but no big deal if u cant, that will just give u more time for pics in between. if u cant move it up, let your guests fend for themselves. thats what i did when i went to my friend's wedding last summer

We are having the same dilemma, But i think my brother and SIL are gonna have her parents open their house up to our guest and my parents will have snack food and wine and beer for them there but we are still unsure. We are having our Ceremony at 2 should last with the receiving line and all until 3:30ish and the our CH starts at 7

Try to move it up...if you can't..then they'll just have to deal. If the time block is too big, they just won't go to the reception. But of course the people you want there the most will be there- so that should be all that matters!

ITA with everyone, see if you can change the reception time, but otherwise they'll have to deal with it.

Try to move it up but if you 100% cant move it up, let the guests fend for themselves...Dont go crazy trying to make everyone happy!!!

My FH said something like that yesterday, he said: This wedding is becoming less about us, and more about making sure everyone else is happy...

He's right, but I just want my guests to have a good time. I'm going see about the small chance thing, and if doesn't work out I'm going to live with it.

Justin is right!!! This is about you two and not about your guests!!! If one guest is unhappy about having to wait and fill their time with something OH WELL...its your wedding and as long as the two of you are floating on air that day, then nothing else matters!!!

(Also hopefully...your guests would think to themselves 'Self, the hotel is right next door, why dont we go sit at the bar and have a drink to pass the time...')

in that case i would say let the guest fend for themselves. they only people you should be worried about would be oot. IMO, if you have any oot, you should let them know in advance about the time between so they can plan accordingly.

that gives you enough time to get tons of pictures, which for you is great.

ITA - your guests will have to deal. It is definitely your and FH's time. Those who truly care for you will be there regardless of the time.
