Still In Pain! Accupunture? Massage? Cortizone? HELP & PRAYERS NEEDED!!

With 16 days, 22 hours until the Wedding to go ....

I am still knocked on my a$$ by this back/arm pain I have been dealing with for about 2 weeks now. This is by far the worst pain I have ever experienced ... and I do have chronic pain in my knees.

I have gone to a Chiropractor twice, he does Acupressure, and after the first visit he does see some improvement.

But I feel like I'm running out of time here, and don't know WHAT to do with myself right now.

You all know what the last 2 weeks before the wedding are like ... there is just soooooooooooo much left to do!

My Bachelorette Party is supposed to be on Saturday .... and I'm thinking of calling it off One of my BM's suggested rescheduling it for after the wedding, it was going to be pretty low-key anyway. But its just not the same

Should I continue the chiropractor route?
Should I try Acupuncture?
Should I go to an Orthopedist and see about a Cortizone shot?

I feel like I'm at my wits end .... please send me your advice, hugs and a whole bunch of 'Jess Needs To Feel GOOD On Her Wedding Day' PRAYERS!!!!!!!!!!

Have you seen an orthopedist yet??? you need to see one and get an MRI and see if maybe you herniated a disc or have a pinced nerve. THey should also put you on anti-inflamatories and a muscle relaxer. You can also see a chiropractor in conjuncion with all of this. I've been dealing with a similar but more severe issue for 3 months now. Please see an orthopedist soon!!! They can try and get you back on track and feeling better!!!

Honest to god smurf, you have all my sympathy with this!!! it is the worst suffering on the planet i think, at least the worst i've ever had!!!
I got NO RELIEF from chiro, at this point I'd vote for the cortizone shot, you'll probably feel some relief right away, and you can work on solving the problem after your wedding is over!!!

I know what you mean though, when I had a herniated disc I basically 'checked out on life' for 6 months until I had the surgery to fix it (it was a bloody miracle!).

Prayers & hugs & we need a VICODIN smiley...

you should definitely try getting a shot in your back! I think that's what MIL gets done to alleviate some of her back pain......and as for your knee pain- have you had an MRI? A friend of mine did and found that there was water/fluid built up in his knees that he had to have drained out.

I know this is probably seriously stressing you out right now w/ 16 days to go......but my best friend Mimi just went through the same thing, except she had a serious viral eye infection 2 weeks before, and was in the ER on what was supposed to be her bachelorette party......we opted to have it when she's back from the HM, b/c we'd rather her not stress her body even more by trying to go out & have fun........take care of yourself first, worry about your bachelorette party later....it stinks that you won't have it before the wedding, but go out w/ your little feather boa or bachelorette sash anyway!!! no one needs to know that you were already married!! lol

I am keeping you in my prayers Jess!!!! prayers worked for Mimi!!! her eye was fine by her wedding day!!! here's hoping you're feeling better really soon!!

Want honest? Cortisone shots work miracles! I tried accupuncture myself, but I have rheumatoid/fibromyalgia and I am hypersensitive to pain. You need fast, and cortisone is fast!

I've had the knee thing since I was about 14 ... done all the MRIs on it, and it turns out to be chondomalacia. I was scheduled for a surgery but went for a few other opinions before the surgery date ... and everyone had a different solution. So I ended up canceling the surgery and went for PT, which I guess helped a little. About 95% of my days with my knees are good.

I wish I could have a good day with this new pain

Get a cortizone shot. My dad has a terrible back and it's a miracle fix...not a cure, but a fix for when he's in bad pain. My grandmother, too. She has siatica(sp?). She was in bed for 2 days, could barely walk. She want to the dr for a shot and she was up and about in no time.

No matter which route you choose to go with you have to try (and I know with all going on it's not easy to do) and relax. The stress you are under right now is not going to help you get better.

Sorry if your reading this thinking 'duh, I already know this' but you have to find some way to take it a little easier.

Feel better soon!

You need to be carfeul with Cortisone shots. No good Dr. will just give you a Cortisone shot without diagnosing the problem because the Cortisone can mask a really serious injury and make things worse. The reason we have pain is the body's way of telling us something is not right, by masking it you may make certain movements that can actually aggrevate the injury and make it worse and potentially life altering.

I am by no means stating you shouldn't get a cortisone shot, but staing that you need to get to the route of the problem and make sure it isn't anything serious. If getting a shot of cortisone is recomended by the Dr. to alleviate the pain and reduce the swelling then by all means go for it!

I just want to make sure you don't try and get a 'quick fix' without knowing what your problem is and potentially make it worse!!

Feel better!!! And let us know how you are doing!!

Re: Still In Pain! Accupunture? Massage? Cortizone? HELP & PRAYERS NEEDED!!

Cortizone shots are just quick fixes and they can affect everyone differently. You might be able to go once and be fine or you may have to go 4 or 5 times. Def. go to an orthopedist and get an MRI. they show a heck of alot more than Xrays do. I dont think that you should go to the Chiropractor any more either. I think they can end up making it worse if they dont know whats wrong with you.
I had 2 bulging discs 3 years ago and I wasnt able to stand up or walk or pretty much do anything without being in pain. I was pretty much in bed for 3 weeks straight. My DR talked to me about cortizone shots and surgery. The cortizone shots are a quick fix. The way he described it, you can go once and get 1 shot and be fine.......another person would have to go like 3 different times before they start feeling any better. If you go to an orthopedist they will probably give you a prescription for muscle relaxers. I FM'd you. If you have any questions let me know.

In the mean time, feel better

Def try accupuncture. My dad has had chronic back pain for years and just a year ago he started seeing an accupunturist and he has had relief. So much so, that he is taking daily walks and has gone back to the gym.
Cortisone would be a quick fix as well.
Oh and I vote for you to still have the bach party! You will have fun and enjoy it. And if nothing else your brain probably needs the break from planning. Hope you feel better soon!
