My friend got engaged and wants to start looking at gowns. She is a size 0 or 2 and is about 4'11'.
She said she heard of a place in port jeff...does anyone know the name?
Have any other suggestions of stores with really small samples??
TIA

Re: stores with SMALL samples?
I can tell you what stores NOT to go to. RK Bridal in the city and Macy's both have bigger sizes. I think the smallest size I tried on was an 8 and that was huge on me.

The only place I know that has small samples is David's Bridal. Not sure about anywhere else.

I order my dress in that size as a petite. To be honest, its hard to find stores that already carry petites. I know Davids carries petities in the store but you can request other stores to order a petite depending on the line. When I went to most stores I had to be clipped in really tight and it was hard to get a good feel of myself, so she should make sure the brand she wants is offered in a petite. To be honest, it really does make all the difference.

It does make a huge difference. I'm a 0 and I tried on size 12 and 14's at bridal salons and it was just so difficult to picture how the dress would look in my size. And size 4 is the smallest size some designers have; so that will require a lot of alterations.

Wow, they put you in a much larger dress size than you actually are. But now that I think about it, I tried on everything from 2 through a 10 I believe. I actually had to order my dress in a 0 petite without ever seeing how it actually looked on. When it did finally come in and I tried it on in my size, I knew it was worth it.

Just so you know bridal gowns run 2-4 sizes smaller than street clothes so a size 4 in a bridal gown could very well fit better than you think!

ITA- it makes a HUGE difference. The gown I tried on (that I ended up buying) was a 16. I bought it in a 4. It was so hard to judge how it would look on me. I literally had to have someone stand behind me and hold it closed. But then that kinda ruined 'the shape' of the gown.

Re: stores with SMALL samples?
If there is a particular designer she is interested in, they often carry much smaller size samples at the designer's boutique, as opposed to going to a big wedding salon that carries all different designers....
