DH, Paul and I went to Port Jeff this morning...we had some errands to run and we wanted to get out and walk around and enjoy the beautiful weather. As we are walking in downtown PJ, I walk right past my Ex (last BF before meeting DH and moving to CA - completely horrible break-up - and never spoke to each other again).
I just kept walking b/c I don't think he saw me.....and DH was like, 'Slow Down, where's the fire?' I'm like, 'That was my ex.'
So, my darling hubby says, 'Oh, do you want to go say Hi?'
As if!
Just curious....I am not one of those people that 'keeps in touch' with old flames....I believe that some people only serve a purpose in your life for a time, and when their time is up, there's no sense hanging onto to something you don't need in your life. DH, on the other hand, does not believe in burning bridges with people that you once loved or cared about.
So my question....would YOU have stopped to say Hi to an ex-boyfriend and introduces your husband and son?

Re: Strange Day...
If u have been out of touch since the break up----would just ignore him like you did....My Creepy Ex cheated on me, then tried to get me back when I was with FH...so when we saw him working a the mall in teh Metabolife booth (it definitely DID NOT work for him!) FH just grabbed my hand tighter, stopped, kissed me...LOL and then we glanced at him....hahahaha...but in this case, FH knew this Ex...and if I saw him Today, I would just ignore him too....no sence being lie, HI EX>.this is my HUSBAND and SON....especially after a bad break up....

Re: Strange Day...
Since you say it was a completely horrible breakup, I think you did the right thing and kept walking.
However, Id have to agree with some of the girls, that you could have showed off your handsome hubby and GORGEOUSSSSSS son !

I would have kept on walking. I like to let things that are in the past stay in the past.

Re: Strange Day...
I would say hello!! Especially since MOST ex's (especially when they jerks) think that the womans world ends when they are gone. It's a nice 'Thank God I'm no longer w/ you'

Re: Strange Day...
I definately would have said hello : ) You could have showed off your beautiful son and what a great life you have now.
On a personal level I have left friends with all of my exs including my exhusband and would have no problem with any of them meeting my husband : ). In fact my last boyfriend called the day before our wedding to wish us luck.

Re: Strange Day...
I am friends with an ex (The guy I date b4 DH) despite a pretty sick breakup. We talk once a month. But the guy I dated before him, was an absolutley heartwrenching breakup. If I saw him on the street I would most certainly say hello, just to remind him of what he took for granted. However he would not give me the time of day. He definitley believes in that whole burning bridge thing.

Re: Strange Day...
It really depends on the Ex-- my last ex before meeting DH was crazy and I would run the other way but others before him I would stop and introduce my DH to them--

Re: Strange Day...
Hmmm - tough one! If we left it on really bad terms (I have one of those!) then I would have continued walking - no point in bringing up the past and chatting! But if we left off on good terms, then maybe I would have said hello..

Re: Strange Day...
It's so interesting to hear people's different perspectives on this....I guess that goes without saying for matters of the heart, huh?
Truthfully, it's just not me to 'show off' my husband and son as if they are possessions instead of my beloved family. I have nothing to prove to this jerk. When we broke off, I was the one who wished him well before I moved to CA, and he was too much of a coward to wish the same for me.
Today, I still feel that I made the right choice yesterday. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say. Besides, he was also walking with a woman who could have been his wife. So, we have both moved on (long ago) and don't need to be friends now.
