Strange scenario - not sure what to think

Strange scenario - not sure what to think

Long story short FH and his brother had a falling out several yrs ago the brother owes FH money and they really haven't talked since

Today we get the brothers reply:

Will attend - ceremony only (with his family)

odd thing is - the ceremony is at the rh so he will be leaving when everyone else is sitting down to eat. Not sure why they would not want to stay for the dinner...

Humm that is strange. Maybe it's his way of trying to make up for lost time. Since he's been a deadbeat as far as paying him back, he may think he's doing the right thing by not coming for the actual reception. It would probably cost you more for him to be there than he could give you.?. IDK, just trying to come up with something.

However, I've had parents ask me where I'm getting married and when I say at the Watermill they immediately ask, no, where is the ceremony. Is it really okay for people to come to the ceremony and then leave if it's all happening in one place??

Maybe his brother feels akward and bad that he owes him the money and doesnt want you guys to have to shell out more money (dinner) for him and his family.

like others said, maybe its just his way of reaching out.

maybe FH or FFIL or FMIL should give him a call to discuss.

I agree with others. He may feel awkward being there, but he does not want to miss his brother's marriage.

I would try and sort this out...maybe one of his parents can call up his brother. I wouldn't totally count them as no's for the reception yet though.

2 options.

1. This is a way of him reaching out and attempting make things right but doesn't want to overstep any boundaries and is therefore just coming to the ceremony.

2. He doesn't wish to make things right but has enough respect for his family to come to the ceremony but chooses to not come to the reception.

he basically doesnt want to give you guys a gift.

Maybe he thought he was making a statement and didn't realize it was at the RH?

Fool.
