My sister sent me a very generous shower gift. (I haven't seen her in about 13 years- and we only speak about once every couple years. We weren't raised together because we have different moms and she and our Dad don't get along).
Well, I tried to call her yesterday and thank her for the gift. I want to let her know that our Dad isn't coming to the wedding (now he's mad at me, too), so that maybe she'll come.
So, yesterday her husband answered. He didn't know who I was until I said my last name. He never offered to take my # or even have her call me back.
So, I just called again now. He said she went away for the weekend.
She has 3 kids. Her mom lives near her. So, why the heck did she go away? So, I asked him if he could take my #. He hesitated, but then he finally wrote it down. Then, he said that she won't be back until late Sunday night. I just found it weird because I remember her saying how her husband always wanted her to communicate with me. Now, it seemed like the opposite...

Oh honey, maybe she really did go away. My mom used to get away when we were younger. I wouldn't read too into it, especially if she just sent you a very generous gift.

I would send her a personal thank you card, and it will give you an excuse to write a note to express how much you would like them both to attend your wedding. It may make a difference, or clear any doubts they or he may have?.....

That is strange... but the gift really seems like a positive sign. I like 2UNTAMED's idea!
As for her husband, some people are just really awkward on the phone, especially when it's an unexpected caller...
