So I just came back from my last fitting of my strapless dress, and I thought the top seemed a tiny bit loose. My seamstress said that because of my build (ie not a large bust), that this was common and that if she takes it in any more, the skin by my under arms will be folding over the dress.
She recommends double sided tape to basically tape the dress to my skin so it is flush, which I tried and was fine. The dress won't fall down because there is an elastic band around my waist (James Clifford - brilliant!), but I am curious if this is common or if I should have her take it in slightly? Any thoughts? TIA.....

Re: Strapless dress - post fitting ques
hmmmm...i have never heard of a seamstress suggesting this. I feel like they should be able to take the dress in so it fits you perfectly. Did you try the tape and feel comfortable with it?

I guess it felt fine, it just seemed weird. Its very beaded on top, maybe that's part of it? I don't know!!

I never heard of this either. I had my seamstress sew in a padded bra in mine. I think she should be able to take it in as much as you need/want it to.

I don't like that excuse...I think she didn't want to do another alteration. If I were you...I would go back and have her take it in as much as you need so the top is really snug. It should NOT be loose at all.
