I told my 17 year old cousin she could wear straps. She's not used to wearing strapless and she's not really a dress kind of person (I hesitate to use the term 'tom boy', but for lack of a better description). I figured it would be ok. She's the youngest, etc. My sister just went for her fitting and they told her to hold her dress up better (She's very big on top...so am I, but I'm used to strapless), they want her to wear straps. She figured it's ok and will differentiate her as MOH.
I REALLY don't like the straps. I haven't seen the dress with straps, but I think it's so pretty without,.
Should I have all 4 girls wear the straps, or just let the 2 girls with and 2 without. Will it look weird?

straps really arent going to make a big difference in terms of holding up the girls. i have a very large chest myself and i learned from a good tailor that when a dress fits properly it will be held up by the torso not the straps. and since your MOH has a large chest all the straps will do is dig into her shoulders making it look like the dress is too tight. she's better off going strapless and wearing a good long line bra underneath. its the fit of the middle of the dress, its should lay flat on the torso that will make the most difference, that and how much room the cut of the dress allows for a chest. the dress you picked should be fine for a large chest. i would have her go strapless.

Hair is up or down, whichever.
She bought a nice corset, but she doesn't know how to wear it. She insists on pulling her boobs up in the cups and then getting upset when she pops over it.
I KNOW straps do nothing...I don't know WHAT this seamstress is talking about, but I wasn't there so I need to go with it. UGH. I feel like you do, the straps will either 1) fall down all night or 2) dig in.

i'm sorry, this may sound bridezilla-ish, but why did she decide on her own that she could alter the dress without asking you? like another poster said, straps don't help keep your dress up if the dress weas originall strapless. if she is that worried about it, tell her to get that tape they sell now at most stores to put inside of your dress so that it won't fall. Honestly, I would tell her to change it back.

i def think the most important is having your girls be comfortable. the straps will not change the look of the dress too much. having your BM happy and comfortable to be in pictures and party all night is more important IMO

Re: Straps vs. no straps
I was in a BP once where two of the girls did straps (one was the MOH and one wasn't) and the rest of the BP didn't and no one really cared or noticed. the one with her hair down was the MOH

for me, i don't look to the straps to keep the dress up and everything in place, i look to them to hide the BRA-straps so that i can wear a good bra w/straps. i just find bras with straps more supportive.
as for the situation with your sister... i personally would let it go (esp b/c she wouldn't be the only one with straps, anyways). assuming you have a great relationship with her, and she's been a wonderful MOH to you, i guess i feel that even though it's *your* day, she's still a big part of it and it's a nice way to show you care about her.
could you possibly get removable straps that she can wear during the reception/dancing, but take off for formal pictures?

I'd do 2 and 2 and maybe ask for a halter strap instead.

I don't think it will look weird to have some with or without straps. Personally if it makes someone for comfortable then they will be more confident about how they look at the wedding you don't want all your pictures to include someone pulling at their dress.

Re: Straps vs. no straps
This was the dress my BM wore.. I had all different sizes. One of my girls even gave birth 2 weeks before the wedding. Her chest was huge, and she had no problems without straps. There is an inside zipper for support as well as the outside zipper. I would ask them to all not wear straps, and if theyre uncomfortable maybe they can attach the straps just for the reception? Heres a picture of the girls without straps.
