My FH went to FMIL's yesterday to fix her remote, and when he came back he annouced that he told FMIL she should pay for rehearsal dinner and she said okay.....
Then he said that 'really, YOUR family should pay for it, and we don't really need one'
Okay this is not my FH talking... this is what FMIL must have said to him...
then he says 'Tony (FMIL's boy friend) said that he has NEVER heard of the grooms family doing ANYTHING for the wedding, and that if me or my family aren't paying for it, than we shouldn't have it'
So I said, in this day and age, both sides contribute (if they can) and my family is already doing enough and that his family has some pretty big balls....
So he said 'In all the movies and wedding shows he watches (uhm,.... what?) that the brides parents pay for EVERYTHING and the HM'
I asked him to please name these shows and he said 'meet the fockers'
I think he is getting defensive because he fels hurt by his familys lack of intrest/ help in our wedding. I mean I don't want to fight with him.... but his family pisses me off....
Just wanted to vent...

Re: Stress...
Omg Eleanor, tell Tony to take a hike and keep out of your business!! Show him how many countless wedding magazines break down who pays for what. For the Groom's family the RD is at the top of the list!!!!
Don't believe everything you see on TV and in the movies. Is Tony aware that these people aren't real??

Re: Stress...
whoa! where to start..traditionally, the grooms parents pay for the RD. if you are going that route. but, nowadays, either hte bride and groom pay for it all or they split with the parents. or, in my case, we asked our parents for a certain amount, and that seemed to work out ok.
good luck and pay no mind to the crazy bf.

Re: Stress...
traditionally, the grooms family pays for the RD. If she said ok to paying for it then let her. If she is going to give issues about it, then maybe forget about it. This guy Tony sounds like a real winner.
