Stress and Sadness

Stress and Sadness

Hey girls...I need to vent!! My parents are in the process of selling the house I've lived in for 26 years. I am beyond sad about this. I just can't get it through my head that someone else is going to be living in my house I live with FH but come home often because of his sleeping schedule. Today was an open house and there were people in and out all day, commenting about the house and so on. I feel like the holidays should be a happy time and so should planning my wedding, but I feel like this is overshadowing it all...just needed to get that out to a non-judgemental audience. Thanks girls.

I was thinking the same thing about the 2 of us having a lot in common...maybe after the holidays we should get together for a much needed drink!! Even our FH's will have something in common! I know, there is a whole long family story to go with the selling of this house (let me just say that 1 out of 4 of my dad's sisters will be invited to my wedding). I feel like as soon as I got engaged, this had to happen. It's like sometimes I feel like I can never be happy. Don't get me wrong, I know people have it alot worse than me, but sometimes it's just hard to keep your head up...

I know. It's really the hardest on my dad. He, my grandpa, and my uncle built this house together. My grandpa died about 15 years ago and my uncle died very suddenly 6 years ago...it's just so hard to shut your mouth when people come in here and are examining YOUR house like, oh and I'll do this and that and you want to curse them out!! Ugh.

Re: Stress and Sadness

we luckly didnt have that.. buuuuuuuuut... a builder bought our house since we have VERY large property... ill post a pic so u can see... they are most likely going to knock our house down and build 2 on the property... so i wont even be able to drive past it.. and what i hate the most is my MOH and best friend only sister ive even known has lived across the street from me FOREVER and we vowed to each other that we would always live across the street from each other and it makes me sad to know we wont be able to keep that promise! but like i alwys say.. everything happens for a reason!! so maybe there is some meaning being everything thats going on!

Re: Stress and Sadness

Guess what? One of the men who came to look at the house was a developer. He was the most interested since our house sits on an acre they can knock down our house and put 2 in its place. I too think everything happens for a reason, but sometimes it's hard to make sense out of everything.

Re: Stress and Sadness

i dont know if ur parents are dealing with a realtor but just maybe u can pass along this info.. if they are not.. and the go with a builder or developer they make top dollar on their house (thats what we did) cuz then ur not paying the realtor costs!! (which can be up to 10% adds up when ur at 490k... if u know what i mean)... u get the money every last penny.. and they usually pay cash which is AMAZING!!

They are using a realtor already. The way my grandpa did his will has my dad getting 44% and his sisters each getting 11%. The same day one of them found out the house was on the market she went out and bought a Jaguar(the car, not the cat LOL) anticipating a big payday from the sale of my home. After this is all over, I plan on calling each one and giving them a piece of my mind.

I moved out of Brooklyn to SI, I grew up in that house also... 22 years, and it is the saddest thing you could ever do. You could never replace the home you grew up in!!! I know how you feel

Thanks. It is sad and I feel like I know I will get over the sadness, but right now it feels like I never will, ya know? I know we all go through it, but when you're actually going through it, it stinks.

Re: Stress and Sadness

When me and FH were house shopping this summer, He would walk into these peoples homes and he would start talking very loudly, saying 'i want to knock this wall down' Demolish this side' blow the roof right off' 'knock this F***er down'

I had to yell at him and say, how insulting it is, for the owners to hear this. These little old ladies, who lived their all their life, hear this young kid in their house talking about knocking it down!!!

I was very upset he was saying these things. And PUT a STOP to him saying stuff when the owners were present.

My family house was sold in 04, and even though i can drive by whenever, cause they kept it the same, I can honestly say, its not the house, but the family that make the memories. Its very sad, but in a way its a new chapter, (it was for me) at the time.

Think about you and FH, having your own house and family one day, and making new memories together as a family
