Stress VENT - FH May have Lost his Job

Stress VENT - FH May have Lost his Job

I'm completely besides himself...

My FH might have lost his new job, just two weeks into the job.

His new company manager is saying that $1,000 went missing over Labor Day weekend, between close of business Thursday and Sunday (large gap). FH was placed on 'temporary suspension' for up to two weeks while they conduct an 'investigation' - with no pay.

So he hasn't been paid for the two weeks he's worked, doesn't know when he will, or if he'll be working there again.

the *** factor - FH wasn't working Friday or Saturday.

Plus he's a trainee, so on Sunday he was working alongside the regional manager. He is a trainee - he doesn't have his own set of keys to the cash drawer - which the company doesn't keep $1,000 in (who does?).

There's no way he could have gotten access to the money - but is suspended.

Afraid they are looking for an excuse to fire FH :/

I'm so sorry to hear that. Can he talk to HR or is he part of a union?

Do you have any friends who are lawyers? I'd give them a call and see what they say about the situation. Sounds really sketchy on the employers part. Be positive. I know everyone says it but everything really does happen for a reason.

I've told him to calmly speak to his recruiter with the HR department tomorrow, and calmly ask for a full and detailed explanation of what is happening, what he can expect, what kind of updates he'll get and how frequently.

I also told him then to ask for a written copy of the company's employee handbook/policies (owed to you upon employment) to be mailed or that he can pick up, plus a check cut for the time he has worked- considering he doesn't know when or if he'll be working there again.

He didn't speak to HR today, only the regional manager, the same one who worked with him the only day he worked - in the time frame the money was allegedly missing - which I find suspicious.

I would highly suggest he talk to HR and explain his side of the story. He should definitely get paid for time he worked. If he hits a road block at that point and they with hold his pay I would highly suggest talking to a lawyer. If you need one send me a FM and I can give you the name of my family lawyer who Ive known since I was a kid and I can also give you the name of my friend whos a lawyer.

I am sorry to hear that. FH got laid off a week after we booked our venue. We were a mess...but things turned out for the better because I honestly don't know how we would have afforded our wedding without this knew job. Keep your head up girl :)
