Stressed About Wedding Planning

Stressed About Wedding Planning

Is anyone else so stressed out by wedding planning that honestly - they don't want to do it anymore or are paralyzed?

I feel like I'm stuck this way.

I work 60-70 hours a week. I'm often overtired, stressed out and frazzled merely due to work.

My own mother has no interest and is of no help wedding planning (her line is 'my mother planned mine, so I have no idea what to do' ) and my bridesmaids/bridal party are all in different states (upstate near Albandy, San Diego and Chicago).

My FH has an opinion on everything, which is great - I want him to feel included - but sometimes its too much. He wants a hand in everything, and its making things like bridesmaid dresses, etc impossible.

I'm engaged 10 months going on 11 months now, and I've got my venue for the ceremony, RH and a photographer. We're down to 3 choices for a DJ, and that's likely to be decided after the last showcase next week.

I feel so far behind in planning and soooo stressed out. How are you staying sane, managing?

Try not to stress to much everything will come together somehow. Try to take one thing at a time. I think you are actually where you should be with planning you have your major vendors almost done. I think you're doina great job!!

Doesn't sound like you are far behind at all. You still have over a year before your wedding and you are well on your way to having all your major vendors booked. Sometimes on this board you see other brides so far ahead and it makes you feel like you are behind so don't let that get to you.

Since you work long hours and don't have your BMs around to help I would def recommend a DOC to help you out. They are surprisingly affordable. I'm booked with Cheeky Glam. I've also heard great things about A Modern Day Affair and some others that are recommend on this site.

If you don't want a DOC or its not in the budget, then just continue like you have been, 1 step at a time is the way to go. That is what I have been doing. It will all fall into place.

That's all I have booked too! Don't worry! It will all come together. I would (IMO) tell FH to back off when it comes to things like the girls' dresses It's great he wants to help, but that's not up to him. I told my FH the same thing!

I'm stressed that no one can match my photo quote and then we got a DJ quote that was insane. At least I was happy with the photo quote! Just scared to book so soon but then scared to NOT book that my date will be taken. I'm crazy!!!!

I think you're at a good pace! FH and I just started new jobs and I am still in school. We're also moving out in together in April...so I know how you feel.

You are doing fine!
I leave FH out of it all anyway. I don't want his opinions! As far as opinions and decision making help, that's why we are here,
Don't stress!

Working that many hours alone is stressful!!! I would just tackle 1 thing at a time to help not let it overwhelm you so much. So once you choose the DJ, pick a new thing to tackle, but maybe give yourself a week off from wedding duties before starting. It should be enjoyable not make you pull your hair out!!

I tell FH that it is our wedding and he has input in most everything but they're my bridesmaids and I will pick out their dresses and colors. And the cake is my choice too. I said, why do you think they have grooms cakes? Because the actual wedding cake is really the brides they just don't come out and say it lol

I'm feeling the same way you are. This weekend I've just began to be soooo stressed out. The photographer that I really like is unavailable on my wedding day so I feel like I'm going off the deep end. I've tried to get my one BM, my FH, and my mother to look at other photographers with me online and nobody wants to give me the time of day. I'm actually going to try and do yoga at night to help me relax, I'm at the point where i don't know what else I can do.

Don't stress I think we are both at similar points of the planning process. I too am using a DOC / wedding planner and they are making me feel so comfortable and stress free. Let me know if you want to know who I'm using. Good luck and don't let the stress get to you!

What photographer did you want? I'm booked with Lighthouse and they've been amazing. If you haven't looked into them, you definitely should!

Someone sent me their quote upon request, and I remember thinking how incredibly affordable they were..

Unfortunately I only have the budget for a DOC, not a wedding planner otherwise I would totally do it. My brother was dating an 'event planner' for 2 years who had offered to do my wedding - she was so excited about it. Then sh*t hit the fan and they broke up *sigh* so it was wishful thinking.

Amanda Picone. I've looked at Lighthouse's site and it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I've been so picky I'm driving FH insane asking him to look at websites with me every night. I reached out to a couple others today and now I'm anxiously waiting to hear back about whether or not they are free on my day. fingers crossed!

They are just a day of coordinator but they're so involved. Consitant emails back and forth, suggestion for vendors, and they help you keep on track of your to-do list! Just my free consultation made me feel so much more relieved!! After talking to them I was like 'okay I can handle this' and everytime I get one of their emails I breath a little sigh of relief! They're a steal for what they really do and what they charge. It can't hurt to meet them. Don't be stressed one day at a time!

Re: Stressed About Wedding Planning

I've been feeling stressed and at this point I have no energy to do anything(that might also be contributed by the fact that I have not worked out in a few months. I need to get back on track with that). Planning and the cost of everything can definitely make someone insane. Surprisingly I have managed to remain fairly sane (sometimes ).

I think you are at the right pace. Taking things one step at a time will help you feel less overwhelmed.

your doing fine with timing. Everyone has moments in this when they don't really want to touch anything wedding related, and then they REALLY get back into the swing of things. Currently I am in a real 'get things done' mood and am really plugging away at things. But I know in about a month or so I will need a break or so. Maybe you just need a little time off of wedding stuff.
