Stressed and upset because.....

My guest list is at 240!!!! There is no way in hell we can afford that and i've already cut so many people. I didn't realize how much family we have until we wrote the list out. I know probably 20% won't come but we are still over by so much.

AHHH Didn't realize how stressful this would be

Maybe you can have a day wedding instead of an evening. You can reduce your plate price if that helps. where are you getting married and when? I saved a lot getting married in february

my RH renegotiated my contract with me, thankfully! I removed the viennese (they have lots of dessert options already) and got them to go down on the guaranteed minimum, so I could cut the list down. Don't be stressed! Breathe and think...

Hey leeza, we are pretty open to what month. Although FH has said 'as long as it's not the dead of winter'. For me I just want to afford to have all the poeple I love. We are looking at venues for the first time this week. So as of right now plans are very open. We were thinking the year 2011 just so we can have some time to save. I've read here that off peak is around Jan-April so hopefully we can afford something around then!

Maybe you should consider a Thursday night wedding? I am doing this and have saved a great deal of $$$ not only with RH, but with vendors who are willing to lower their prices to book an unpopular date.

I always dreamed of being an October bride, but we literally knocked about $40 per head with having it in February. Winter is not my favorite season, but its really becoming exciting because I am a February bride so the month with the flowers and a little pretty snowfall for some pics and a nice faux fur I'm good to go LOL. FM if you want a quote of what I got! :)

ahh I'm going through the same thing.

my minimum when I booked my RH was 150 - I was like no way am I going to make 150 so we negotiated and got the minimum to 125..

well when we actually sat down to do the list we are at 201.. not including co-workers which will add at least another 20-25 people!!

at 1st i thought we'll have a 120-150 person wedding but that quickly grew and my list is over 200. my minimum is 180 so i just hope i get that amount because surprisingly a lot of people don't show!!

Make an A and B list - put the people you're uncertain about on the B list. Cut out any 'and guests' where you can (i.e. person not dating anyone seriously,etc). That saved me about 20 people.

i say change the day of the wedding to maybe a weekday like the other brides suggested or to an afternoon wedding. season change will def help too or ween out the people you havent talked to or seen in years! yes- cut them out!!

Girl i strive not to end up like my girlfriend crying 2 weeks before the wedding, because she was over the count and she had to FIND $$$ to cover the balance asking any and everyone for money...embarassing!!!

Feel so much better today after looking at venues. Leonard's quoted us an AMAZING price. We were shocked at how cheap it was and with that Price we can afford about 200 people. You ladies are amazing, thanks for all the encouragement!!
