STRESSED & NEED HELP!!!!

Hello ladies,

This is my FIRST POST!!!! So I want to congratulate all of you on your engagements and blessed planning for wonderful weddings.

I've been a lurker for about a month and after searching through the posts I've gotten more and more stressed out! We got engaged in April and still haven't been able to narrow down a reception hall in 09'. The reason is COST!!! I can't believe how expensive weddings are. Both of our parents are unable to help so we have to pay for everything ourselves.

We currently don't have a car so will be renting a car to go and visit RH's. So I would like to narrow my list down because renting a car can get expensive. We are looking at New Rochelle/Brooklyn/Queens/Nassau LI - but not that far out on the Island because most of our family and friends are from the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Upstate NY.

For budget reasons we need a place that we can negotiate down to $70 to $75pp. We are willing to do a Thursday evening....wanted to do October 09.

Any pricing information would be EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!!! I didn't think this would be so stressful!

Definitely look at Swan Club... it's $75 pp for a Friday night.

PLUS it's BEAUTIFUL! (I may be a bit biased. )

Weddings are expensive I actually begged FH not to have wedding because I can't stand spending the money.

Swan Club will def work with you- they have great prices. But remember you have to add the taxes to the $70/pp and it ends being $85/pp.
On a Sunday in July they quoted us $70/pp I think.

Or what about a Knights of Columbus.
If I think of anything else I will let you know

The Oceanside K of C is really pretty and when we had a party there about 4 years ago, it was under 75 pp with food and booze. Also check out the Stewart Manor Country Club! Good luck!

def don't go to my place if you are looking to brooklyn. We *****only picked it because we are having a low amount of people... and so we can spoil who will be there....

If we had to do what fbil did, and have over 400 then we prob would have booked swan club...they are VERY reasonable and a beautiful choice...

Im doing a Thursday night wedding in the summer at The Riviera and under $75 so I am sure they would be @ 70-75 in October. Check them out, it is beautiful there, one wedding at a time and on the water.

The Riviera is beautiful but please dont be convinced even for a second that October prices are any lower than the summer. I couldnt believe the quotes I was getting when I first started looking. October is still very expensive.

you probably won't find that price in westchester even on a weekday...just to help you save time since ur renting a car. I also suggest calling places first to make sure it's even worth your time. I called all of the places before hand to get pricing. There's nothing like showing up to find out they charge double your budget.

i was going to suggest riviera and CLM but you said you dont want it too far and prefer nassau. How about leonards of great neck, they can definitely work with your budget. They have many rooms to pick from with different pricing options and if you are flexible with time of year or day of the week it will be within your price range per person.

You might also get a good price at Bridgeview yacht club depending on when you do it. My friends got a great price, it is just a little bit higher than what you want to spend but maybe if you do it during a certain month then they can work with you. I would call first just to see what their starting price is

Oh I know October is expensive, the main reason why we couldnt do it but, being that she is willing to do a thursday night helps alot. They were asking for $60 pp in September on a thursday night so I wouldnt think thet would be that far from $75 in October.

Thanks Ladies!!! I really appreciate all your help! I feel better knowing that I do have options and I will make sure to call ahead before I make appointments with RHs. I will also take everybody's advice and move the wedding to a November date.

The most wonderful part of all this is FH doesn't care where we get married. He said it doesn't matter as long as he's marrying me...isn't he so SWEET!!!!

the K of C in OCeanside was very good. my bf had her wedding there. and she had an excellant experiece with dealing with them.

I am getting married at Stewart Manor country club and they are beautiful, FM me if u want more details on either one!

If you want to go even cheaper- anytime between Dec-March makes PP prices even CHEAPER. Opt for having the wedding during the day. That lowers prices considerably. I suggest checking out the following:
Riviera
Swan Club
Westbury Manor

and the food at CLM is amazing. I went for a tasting there in April and I know exactly what I want already ... Keep in mind, we signed as soon as we swallowed the food! Amazing.
