Stressed out...
I went to my travel agency last night and picked up cruise tickets and she asks me if changed my passport to my new married name and I told her no because I wanted everything in my maiden name right now so I don’t have go through any trouble changing any documents before my trip. She must have misunderstood me and changed my cruise tickets to my married name. I asked her why she would that and she insisted that it’s what I told her to do. I would never do such a thing because I so clearly remember saying I want everything in my maiden name. So now I don’t know what to do???
I leave on the 18th of July and I don’t think that is enough time to change all my documents. Tomorrow night I plan on going to express motor vehicles to change my name and address then I’m going to Social Security to change the name on my card, So I guess I would have to wait for those two documents to come to get my passport done. I can do my passport done at the passport agency by appointment and if I am traveling within 14 days. So I guess I can still get things done quickly…But it’s just that I didn’t want to go through all this. If you apply in person and you show your documents such as your marriage certificate at a passport agency will you get everything back then and there?
Another thing I did was call my cruise line and they said that I don’t need a passport because I am traveling to florida and the Bahamas. So I would just need proof of citizenship before I board. So they told me that If I bring my passport with my maiden name on it along with my marriage certificate then I’ll be fine. I was also told to bring anything I have like a birth certificate and she suggested I get an ID with my new name on it. Can I do this without going to SS first? I am planning on going to DMV tomorrow and SS next week. I called DMV this morning and they said it’s ok as long as I don’t wait to long to change my name on my SS.
