Stressing about Bachelorette Party :(

Stressing about Bachelorette Party :(

My sister (MOH) is planning my bachelorette party for next weekend, the 16th. She is not telling me anything about what she has planned, and she made everyone else swear not to tell me either. First of all, I confess I am a control freak and can't stand not knowing what the deal is. Second, I am paranoid that my sister is going to plan something that I don't want to do. I guess you could call me a party-pooper, but she and I just have very different ideas of what partying is. I am more the type to have a nice dinner and then maybe go to a bar for a few drinks. My sister, on the other hand, would rather go out to a club or to a casino, get completely sh*tfaced, and stumble home at 4am. When I was younger I used to be much more of a partier than I am now. So I'm worried that she'll think if she plans something crazy that I'll end up liking it anyway, just because I used to be more 'wild' than I am now. I also told her that if she gets a stripper I will be SO furious, but there's no guarantee for that. I also heard that it might be an all-weekend thing too, which I really don't want to do either. I just hope she planned it with ME in mind, not just what she wants!! Did anyone else have a bachelorette party that wasn't their cup of tea? How did you handle it? I know I should just be a good sport about it, but like I said before it's the whole lack of control thing!

Well, I'll keep you all posted. It's on the 16th, so I'll have a review soon after. Thanks for letting me vent!

Honestly, just go with the flow. Don't do anything you will regret or that will cause problems w/FH of course, but relax and have a good time...even if it's not your cup of tea. Maybe get one of your other BMs or your parents to talk to her quickly beforehand, and give her a call to tell her that you can't do an all weekend thing if it's not something you want to do. Mostly though, you DON'T control this, so just figure it's time to enjoy with your friends no matter where you are or what you're doing.

My bachelorette party is this weekend and my sister is throwing a $h*t fit that I will not wear a veil or a tshirt with lifesavers etc. So I know exactly what you are going through. But I would not worry because you will have a good time, and at least you have people who want to surprise you some people don't even get a bachelorette party.

I completely understand NOT wanting to do the whole club thing...I would much rather go out to a nice dinner and go somewhere for drinks...or do something completely different...like some girls here did the pottery thing...I WOULD LOVE TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

In my case, I think I will be in control of my bachelorette party...

I'm sure though that your sister understands that this is your party...not hers...and will have planned something that you're going to love!

Have fun and let us know what you did...

I am the exact same way, a control freak. I like to know what is going on. And I am in the same situation. My MOH is planning mine and we are totally different. She is the club and dancing girl and that is totally not me. I want to do something quiet and simple on the island. Plus, my mother told me she was planning on having my bachelorette party two days before my wedding, which is the night of my rehearsal dinner. I told my mother she better nip it in the bud quickly. There is no way I am going out partying the thursday night before my saturday wedding. Just not happening.

I think you should have a talk with her or someone else in the BP and let them know what you really would like to do and what you really do not want to do. It is your day and you should be happy and be able to enjoy it. Good Luck. Keep us posted.

LET LOOSE!!! Just go and have fun!!!!

I went to a bachelorette party last year where the bride was miserable...and it ****ed for everyone involved. A lot of money was wasted when she insisted on going home before the night even began. Try to explain to your sister EXACTLY what you want. Hopefully she'll listen, but if she doesn't, just try to make the best of it. Keep in mind that all the people there are very happy for you and want you to have fun.

Good luck. Let us know what happens!

I am the same way - dinner, drinks, some dancing sounds good. Naked men and penis hates = humilating for me.

I hope she planned a B-party that is right for you and not what she thinks one should be. Trust that she did that and have a good time!!!

I just found out it's at the Culture Club in Soho. I'm TOTALLY NOT INTO THAT. I am all for drinks and dancing, but I do NOT want to play those stupid $exual games that they make Brides do. Has anyone ever been there? Is there any way I can get out of having to do the ridiculous bachelorette stuff?

I told her NO STRIPPERS!!! I am so upset

It sounds as if most of us don't want the wild and crazy Bachelorette parties our friends want to give us, so I propose that once a month, the brides for that month meet at a restaurant or pottery painting place and have the bachelorette parties we want and if our friends want to join us, they can.

Re: Stressing about Bachelorette Party :(

i had my party last weekend and my bm that planned insisted on making it a surprise. she's much more wild and crazy than me and i HATE surprises. but i figured i'd let her have her fun b/c she really wanted to do this for me and we are best friends.

they took me to lucky cheng's and culture club. now had i planned it i would not have picked these places (not to mention the gag gifts they gave me). but i just went with and had a great time.

my theory is that the bachelor/ette parties are not for the bride and groom at all. they are for everyone else to make fun of the bride and groom. so try to do it with a sense of humor and enjoy that your friends think enough of you to spend a lot of money taking you someplace nice.

as far as culture club and the show there don't be stressed about it. yes they have the bachelorettes do stupid stunts (i had to drink a shot off the dance floor on my knees no hands, with about 10 others). first of all the stunts aren't that bad, second hardly anyone can see b/c the audience is standing the whole time, and thirdly you don't know anyone there except the couple of people you came with so who cares.

anyway, good luck and try to have fun!

OK, thanks everyone! I will make the best of it... I know it's all what I make of it, so I will try to just be cheerful and have fun...

I like the pottery idea!
