Stressing big time!!!!

Stressing big time!!!!

My small, basic, and simple wedding that I am putting togeather in three months time is turning into a nightmare; everyone wants me to do things their way.

But does anyone offer any financial assistance???? NO!!!!!! They know what my budget is but keep pushing for more.

Thank God it's only 3 months away, I don't think I could handle this for one to two years!

Anyone feel like this??????

Re: Stressing big time!!!!

I felt like this constantly. The biggest thing that irritated me was people inviting other people to my wedding! 'Oh but my daughter's boyfriend whom you've never met is in town. Can he come? And can my son's girlfriend? And my mother-in-law?'

Seriously! One of DH's friends invited his mother-in-law to OUR wedding!!!

Don't stress too much. You'll be so happy on your big day and it will all be worth it!

My date is exactly 8 months away. I know how you are feeling. We are on a really tight budget. My family wants this and that but is not helping me pay for the wedding. I let them go on with their little speech about this would be nice if you did this...
It's YOUR day not theirs. Do it how YOU want to do it. Regardless how you do it they will really have no choice but to enjoy the day.

yesss...as soon as we got engaged ppl started telling us all the things we should do...it was mostly FILs....i got sooo stressed and basically told FH that he has to talk to his parents or its gonna be a long year and a half!

things have calmed down for now...but we'll see what happens as we get closer!

try not to let ppl bother you as hard as it may be...this is your day so do what you want!!!!!

Welcome to wedding planning...the best thing you can do is politely tell EVERYONE except FH that you appreciate their imput but it is your day.

I'm so thankful that I don't have that problem. Everyone has been totally cool with whatever. I almost sometimes want more input. It's still stressful.

Be strong but sweet and say it or you'll regret it.

I like the one above....also, I've been feeling overwhelmed and stressed out and I'm reading this fantastic book that's really put things into perspective for me! It's called 'Conscious Bride'. You can get it at Barnes & Noble. It saved me a lot of stress! Best of luck

I definitely know where you are coming from... I think we've all felt this way. My advice to you is to DO WHAT YOU AND YOUR FH WANT TO DO!! It is not worth the stress and frustration of trying to make everyone else happy... Make yourselves happy! This day is all about you guys and everyone else will just have to get over the fact that they can't call the shots! Hang in there... all of this stress will seem sooo silly after you are a Mrs!!

Re: Stressing big time!!!!

I have to agree, I think anyone who is planning a wedding feels this way. Other people get involved in the planning process and it feels like you have lost control over your own wedding.

These are my suggestions

1. Tell as little as you can about your plans
2. Avoid talking about the wedding around the people who are pushing your buttons
3. Keep in mind just because someone wants something one way or another you will make the decision.
4. Its your and FH day and on that day everyone will be happy for you, no matter what happens prior to the wedding.

Yes i felt this way as well. THe thing you have to remember is you cant make everyone happy. Everyone will complain about something so remember its your day and if they dont like it too bad.

That is a very good way to make people feel you're listening to them, and not committing to what they are suggesting
