Stretch Marks

Stretch Marks

Okay, I think the only thing I'm unhappy about so far about being pregnant is that I have stretch marks, and they seem to be getting worse I have dark skin, so I'm not sure if that is why. I'll take any suggestions you have to make them fade

Edited to add that I didn't even know they are stretch marks at first. I was at my exam and I said to my MW 'I have these spots on my lower belly', and she just started laughing and said 'they're not spots, they're stretch marks!' Honestly they don't look like stretch marks to me, they look like dark brown/black spots!!

Re: Stretch Marks

One of my friends has stretch marks so badly that her skin looks like someone took a dark purple magic marker and drew on her skin! Her doc told her there is not much hope for making them fade, especially if she plans to have more children. It has to do with your genetics and how elastic your skin normally is...some people are more prone to stretch marks, others are not.

Try using cocoa butter lotion NOW, while you are still PG. I liked the cocoa butter stick from the Body Shop...I must have went through three of them in 9 months!

Also, try Mederma....but, I think you might be better off waiting until after you have had the baby, b/c you are not finished stretching yet. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear, but it happens to the best of us!

Re: Stretch Marks

I tried the Cocoa Butter on my stomach. It looks like a road map now. Nothing helped BUT the marks are all below my belly button so no one should ever see them.

Re: Stretch Marks

Nothing works, its all in the genes. Sorry sweetie. All the creams and what not does not help. My GF just had her tummy tucked and that is the only way to get rid of them after you have had all your children. That is what the platic surgeon told her.

My other GF is considering a TT now to get rid of hers. I don't think its in my genes I do not see any of the women in my family with them. I hope I am as lucky when my time comes

Re: Stretch Marks

I don't think I will be lucky. I developed stretch marks on my hips when I gained weight after the wedding. I have been using cocoa butter, and I haven't really seen a difference. Thank god, my husband would be happy with 1 child.

Re: Stretch Marks

don't think there is much u can do about this. Cocoa butter is usually recommended..at least it should make u feel better to massage the skin...get hubby to do it.
Mine looked purple and they ITCHED so badly.

Friends told me there is nothing u can really do to make them disappear...in fact, we should be PROUD of them- they are our battle scars!

Re: Stretch Marks

That is my only regret about motherhood. My stretchmarks are soooooooo bad that from the right angle it looks like i have 3rd degree burns on my stomach. I scar very easily, and it takes years for a scar to fade on me. But I forget about them everytime Geno smiles at me and DH still tells me I'm sexiest women he has ever seen, so I guess I can learn to accept them.

Re: Stretch Marks

Thanks everyone. Claud, I bought the cocoa butter stick yesterday. I hope it helps, but I'll just have to accept if it doesn't. My MW told me to use castor oil. They marks are only at the bottom part of my belly, under my navel but they're dark. I hope they stay there and don't spread. I also have tiny ones on my waiste line on both sides.

Re: Stretch Marks

It all depends on what kind of skin you have i have no children but will be my moh's birthing coach & have been going to classes w/her and they said that stretch marks really can't be prevented it really depeds on your skin type but hey at least your getting a beautiful child out of it the most beautiful thing in the world lots of luck to you.

Re: Stretch Marks

I don't even want to think about what I will look like when I have kids. I have stretch marks already from when I gained weigt. I am 5;9' 160 pounds not big at all.

I have heard do not scratch them b/c it makes it worst and that you must keep your skin very moisten to the point its slippery.
