String Trio or Quartet

What is the difference between the two besides the additional person?

If you are doing this, who are you using and how much? Please feel free to FM me.

Thanks

I think there are some musical pieces that need a fourth instrument, other than that I don't know. I'm having the trio and they can play all the songs I want.

Certain pieces would need a fourth person but when I spoke to the place I was going to use before my wedding was cancelled all the songs I wanted could be played with a trio.

I was using Stan Wiest. I don't know if you would be interested but I had placed a deposit with him for a string trio and since my wedding was called off I was looking to sell my deposits. The initial deposit was for $780 I'd be willing to work something out where you would just have to pay the balance of the contract to Stan Wiest and we could work something out as far as how much for the deposit. Please get back to me if you are interested. If you wanted to add a fourth player I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem and he could do that for you as well.

Email me at [email protected] if you would like!! Thank you so much! I'm just trying to pay my parents back for as much as possible and move on... it hasn't been easy.

We are having a string quartet (two violins, viola and cello) and are using Counterpoint. As a member of a string quartet in my younger days, I like the balance of sound more in a quartet than a trio. Although the more simple sounds (IMHO) of a trio (usually a violin, viola and cello -or- two violins and a cello) are so beautiful.

Good luck.

What does everyone recommend for Pachelbel Canon in D? Trio or quartet? I'm torn because it would be more economical to just have the church organist and soloist, who I'm paying for anyway, but I LOVE violins!

The Quartet has more depth but if your ear is not in tune to it and your wallet isn't wide enough then the trio may do...

We are having a violin, viola and cello - from Capriccio Ensemble for $650. Natalie has been amazing to work with.

If you love violins, why don't you hire a solo or a duet to play with the organ that you're already paying for?

That is not bad.

Do you think that would sound good? I don't really know music, so I appreciate the advice! I'll call the company you're working with and price it out. Thank you very much!
