Stripping and restaining....

Has anyone here ever stripped and restained furniture? How difficult is it? Can furniture take another stain after it has been stained and lacquered. I found furniture I like, but it only comes in light wood and I love the lines and the price. I am wondering if it is worth it to stain it darker...

Any advice?

Re: Stripping and restaining....

My parents got a cabinet to match the kitchen and when it came in the color was really really off. It looked like oak and the cabinets where cherry. They went to this guy called the Furniture Dr on Sunrise Hwy in Merrick or maybe Bellmore.. THey refinished the cabinet matched the hardware and it matches the kitchen exactly..I am not too sure how much it cost but it was so worth it... My sister is actually thinking of having them do her old dressers to match the babies crib so she dosnt have to buy new ones.

I am sure they are in the yellow pages. It might be worth the $$ to get it done professionally instead of stressing on doing it yourself.

Re: Stripping and restaining....

I wasn't thinking of doing it myself. I was thinking of asking Dad to help me

Maybe I should see what the Furniture Dr. says
