Struggling to figure out a wedding gift for FH
I'm trying to come up with a good wedding gift for my FH. I don't think we should spend an obsene amount of money - since we're giving each other our rings. I really want something that he can keep forever, something that has meaning.
My cousin's wife made him a quilt for their wedding in colors that he loves with some other meaningful details. This will become a family heirloom for them ... love that...although I'm not about to make a quilt (especially not King size like she did).
We're getting married at a vineyard, so I thought I could have one of their wine labels framed - our favorite one and somehow work in a saying about getting better with age/growing old together...('Like a fine wine... Grow old with me, the best is yet to be'), and maybe give him a wine club membership where we get sent different wine every month for the first year of our marriage.
That also lead me to the idea of getting items from important places to us (our first date, our first long talk, wedding location, etc.) and framing them in one large frame - matteing around each.
Another idea I found on here was a time capsule to be opened on our 20th anniversary...newsclippings from this year, planning notes from the wedding, a poem, love letters that we wrote during precana, a bond that will mature at that time that can be used for our anniversary celebration...
And finally, someone had a picture of a bride's bouquet with pictures of a relative who had passed on hanging in little frames from it. Both of my FH's grandmothers passed away within the last 3 years, and he was very close to both of them (never knew his grandfathers)...so I thought I'd get him monogrammed locket cufflinks to wear on our wedding day and put pix of his grandmothers in one, and pix of us in the other.
