In the main picture, I haven't won over my cooperating teacher. I thought things were going fine, and in asking him today he told me he thinks I'm still not getting it. I have a week and a day left. He pointed this out, indicating there's still hope. So at least that's good. He was a bit vague as to what he wants me to do specifically. I said I'll be more aggressive, and he said that sounded good. On a side note, he shares the room with another teacher who is either crazy or just a bad person. I've been nothing but polite to her, she's completely unprofessional and snippy towards me. I know I'm a nice person and I've been nothing but nice to her. It would take too long to describe all of the unprofessional snippy things she's said to me. My supervisor offered to come in and talk with her but I wanted to keep the peace and figured I'd just put up with it. However, yesterday she yelled at me infront of the kids 'You're ridiculous!' because she asked me to move something and I asked where she wanted me to move it. Today she walked by me and said 'You're useless.' because I wasn't circulating the room. I am so frustrated, I almost fainted when my cooperating teacher said he wasn't happy with me. I had to sit down. I went home and slept for like an hour I think because I'm just emotionally drained.

omg what school is that! that teacher sounds miserable! those type of people feel good by making others feel bad. Just keep thinking this is temporary and soon u'll have ur own classroom

That is unacceptable and no teacher should do that to you ( her student) she is essentially teaching someone.. Is that how she talks to the kids in the classroom? Unacceptable. I am sorry that is a hard situation but she shouldnt take on student teachers if she is going to talk to people like that. Its a learning process no one is perfect while student teaching. I think I was Horrible cause I didnt know what I was doing but you get in there and you just do it and it gets better with time. Its a not a serority hazing thing.

I think Theresa was talking about the teacher that her cooperative teacher shares the room with. Her cooperative teacher gave her a bad review.

That is crazy. If I was you I would speak to or write a note to the principle and your professor after the semester.
All the teachers there (in the classrooms) are supposed to help the student teachers

I'm so sorry you are going through this! She had no right to talk to you like that especially in front of the kids. Thats one big mistake right there! I would just try to get through it. Don't let this get to you. You could always have your supervisor be your reference.

I am really appalled by this behavior. As a fellow educator I pride myself on my ability to be courteous to all. I feel so bad for you. When I was student teaching other my friends had awful placements. I hope that your cooperating teacher can give you some meaningful, constructive feed back for the next week.
Keep your head up, once you have your own classroom this day will mean nothing!

Wow thanks girls you are so awesome. I do want to be a teacher, it is my dream. The funny thing is there have been all of these assemblies in the school lately about bullying and some kid asked 'Can a teacher be a bully?' and the speaker kind of shut him down saying 'Anythings possible, but most teachers are teachers because they like their job'. I'm thinking, that was a damn good question and that kid probably is feeling bullied by teachers. Unfortunately, I can't come up with a response that would be beneficial to the situation with this lady when she says such awful inappropriate things like 'You're useless.' It's hard reasoning with crazy. And I'm afraid my cooperating teacher will just back her up and who knows what it would lead to. I guess I'm just going to work my *** off for the next week, and each day try to ask for constructive criticism. That's all I can do.

I know how you feel. I'm currently student teaching too. I do actually get along with both my cooperating teachers but I'm still feeling overwhelmed. Teaching is hard at first but it will get better. I had to do a part time student teaching about a year before this experience and even though my cooperating seemed to like me then, I'm thinking she wasn't too keen on me now. I think that is completely WRONG that your cooperating teacher told you your useless. That doesn't help you improve and that's not the way you should be treated. You're still learning. What do they want from you?
