Stupid dress question that has me worried (short girls)
I know I am not the only short bride. But, after viewing larger pics of my dress, I was wondering... How will they be able to take the length of the front of my dress up without compromising the design? With my shoes, I will probably stand at 5'5'.

You're definitely not the only short girl....I'm 4'11' without heels
Do you have the option to buy the dress in a petite size? I know a lot of them give shorter options now so there's not as much altering to do. I haven't gone dress shopping yet, but I'm hoping that's what I'll be able to do.

Seamstresses are amazing people. I am only 5'2' and my friend is 4'11'. Her dress came out amazing. The design was not compromised at all.

I have no idea - that is a good question! im 4'10 without heels and was soo worried to buy a dress but I found one - they took my measurements and are making the hem shorter when they make the dress so see if they can alter it during the production of the dress?

we asked the same question and the dress I picked can be ordered in petite length so it comes all ready 3 inches shorter making alterations do-able with out losing details and such.

When I ordered my dress they measured me from my chest down..they ordered it based on my height so that they wont have to take anything off of the bottom- they'll just take in in other areas

I have to have a hollow to hem measumement then I won't have to do any alterations on the bottom. My dress is somewhat similiar.

If the bridal salon thought that they wouldn't be able to hem it properly they probably would have told you that you would have to order it hollow to hem and that is based on your height.
They had to do this with my dress because there was a lot of detail that the bottom, if they didn't suggest it you should be fine.
Beautiful dress by the way!

I'm 4'11' and they ordered my dress hollow-to-hem which meant that the dress came made for my height (they measure you from the hollow of your neck to your hem), If they ordered your dress already ask them if they did this.

you are not short!!! i'm 5' 2-3' with heels... a large chunk of my dress was taken out but it still turned out fine. your dress design has a beautiful flare out at the bottom so i think it will look just fine!

That is a beautiful dress. You should be able to alter it without damaged the detail on the dress; the bottom of the dress is not as detailed as the top. If you can special order the dress in a petite size that would be great; but if not I don't see any reason why it would be damaged through alteration.
It will be fine and it will still look great after the hem.

Thanks ladies... I may call just to make sure...but I think they would have pointed it out if it was a problem (I would think). They saw how petite.small I was...
I love my dress..can't stop looking at it. I got excited when I found larger pics, I am such a dork lol.

I'm 5'1 so I was concerned about that too. I believe its only an issue on certain dresses-like those with a dropped waist. Def not an issue with yours (which by the way is beautiful!)

The detailing doesn't look like it goes all the way to the hem. I'm sure you will be fine. If this was an issue, they would've known when you ordered your dress and would have given you options.
