Stupid post office question

Stupid post office question

Ok this is going to sound stupid, but I've never mailed out anything in large quantities before. If I mail Xmas cards, I usually go in say can I have 40 or so stamps, stick them on myself and drop them in the box. Now, I want to send my STDs soon, do I buy 100 stamps, or can I just hand them all 100 and they postmark them or something. I have no idea!
TIA

Re: Stupid post office question

I just went to the post office this morning to mail out christmas cards and they told me I had to put the stamp on the cards myself.

When I sent out my STD's i bought the cute LOVE stamps and just put them on myself and dropped them off at the post office.

however, I do know that girls usually have their wedding invitations hand stamped so that it isnt run through a machine. I think each post office works differently though and larger post offices may not have the time to hand cancel each invitation. Call or stop by your local post office and see how they want to handle this. If they are very busy they may want you to bring them in 20 or so at a time, or they may request you come in at a certain time of day when things are slower.

They will use a rubber stamp to put an ink print over your postage stamp.it protects the invitations, wax seals, envelopes etc from damage which may result from the machine. It also helps cut down on all the ink and markings that are all over the invitation.
It just gives us brides a little extra peace of mind that the invitations may arrive to their destinations in one piece and unmarred.

you have to put your own regular stamps on everything...as for the invitations and hand cancelling....your best bet is to go to the post office and ask for their stamp to do that yourself as well so that you are guaranteed that its done....

they sell stamps in books of 20, so you can ask for 5 books of whatever stamps you'd like, you prob have to put the stamps on yourself, Many people will do it right there on the little counters to the side and then hand them back to them. I doubt theyll do it for you around the holidays bc they are so busy.

I just sent out my STDs...I bought the stamps took them home, stamped them all and dropped them in the box near my house.
