If you cut up a potato before cooking it, does soaking it in water help reduce the starch?

Re: Stupid Potato Question
I don't know the answer to your question, but for some reason the subject just made me laugh I'm in a silly mood today and I think that may be one of the silliest things I've ever seen

Re: Stupid Potato Question
I've done that before - I left it in the water too long and the potatoes tasted SO GROSS. be careful!
ETA: even FFIL, who would eat the table if it was the same color as his plate, wouldn't eat them.

Not sure, but I know that if you over salt a dish and you stick a peeled potato in it, it will absorb the excess salt.

I agree!!! That's hysterical!!!
By the way--> I've never heard that about potatoes...Only that cutting them up helps them cook faster.

That was me, thank you very much! Speaking of which, I'm now watching the Young and the Restless, which is the show on which Diane Jenkins is a character. I just had a brain fart Friday night!
Now, back to the potatoes. I know soaking them does something. My dad has kidney problems and is not supposed to have potatoes b/c of the potassium. However, he was told he could slice and soak the sweet potatoes first to reduce the potassium.
