Stupid QOTD....

OK, here goes....

My wedding band is diamonds so I am going to get it appraised to add it to my renters insurance (like I did with my e-ring). My FH's ring is white gold (but it is pretty expensive) so we also want to put this on the insurance. Do they appraise white gold or does it just get insured for the purchase price?

my brother in law has a platinum wedding band and they got it appraised so im sure its the same for gold

It depends what your policy covers. You may be able to have it insured without an appraisal.

Honestly.... unless it costs more than $1000 to replace... I wouldn't bother getting it insured.

The costs you will incur by filing a homeowners claim (after your deductable) can outweigh the cost of replacing the ring itself.

Not worth it IMO. I have a platinum band that i am not bothering to insure because if I ever lose it I will just go out and buy another.
