We still are not sure if we want to get married at the hall or in a church. Is it bad that we booked our hall without booking a church?

Re: Stupid question...
Most churches prefer that you book them first, so I suggest that if you decide to get married in a church leave out the fact that you've booked the hall already. When we met with the Deacon, he asked if we had booked our hall yet and when we said no, he replied Good! Good luck!

I don't think it is bad to book the hall first. I'd book whichever you had your heart set on first. I have been going to the same church since Communion so I wasn't willing to go to another church. So I had to change my wedding date when the original date was taken.
However, I agree, if you do book the hall first, do NOT tell the church that.

Re: Stupid question...
We allready booked our hall. We currently are not a member of a church. This is why we figured it was no big deal since we were going to have to find a church if we decided to get married in one.
We are meeting with the church next week.

The church doesn't like that, but we did it. Word to the wise...don't tell them you booked your reception...they don't want to hear anything about it. We just said it was an important day to us and that's why we wanted our wedding on that date.

I don't think it bad but most churches prefer you book them first. You should also keep in mind that october is a very busy wedding month so you should making a decision soon.

We did that also, but didn't tell the church. We were just lucky enough that the date was open.
