Re: Stupid question

nope, you don't need a passport for other states (think about it, no need for passport on the GW bridge... so they obviously can't require one for air travel... you only need a picture ID)

you also don't need one for guam or puerto rico, because they're US territories....

Re: Stupid question

Iam pretty sure that they changed that rule now, at first you did not need a passport for domestic travel but now I am almost positive that you do need one to PR, Chicago, Florida etc etc. For whoever is traveling with in the US, contact your travel agent or passport agency and ask them. THey have changed many travel rules now. I wouldnt want anyone to be stranded

Seriously... reading this makes me realize I better get my passport asap! I won't be able to go anywhere anymore!
Another question though, what if someone drives up to Canada (no air travel involved).. do you still need a passport???

This link should clear it up.

You can travel within the states and US territories WITHOUT a passport, that includes Puerto Rico. If you are traveling to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Canada and Bermuda then you need a passport.

It would be pretty damn scary if US citizens were required to produce a passport to travel between states.

If your cruise is docking in international waters, outside of the US, then yes, you need to take a passport w/ you on that cruise. That's why it's required for the Caribbean, even for cruises leaving from PR, because you will land in other countries. It won't be stamped, like it would if you were to fly there, but they look at it when you enter the ship and when you arrive.
