So we got our invites - we have the outer envelopes but also inner envelopes - what are we supposed to do with the inner ones? sorry if this is a really stupid question

outer evelopes are the ones you address. t he inner evelope is where ALL the invite stuff goes (invite, reply card, directions, etc. go). you can lable the inner envelope with their names again if you like (no address).

The outer envelope is for the formal adressing:
Mr. and Mr. John Mitchell 123 somewhere lane New York, NY 11212
The inner envelope is for the way you address the invitees:
