I sent a save the date by email and some responded regrets... the question is should i still send original invitation by mail? (this is a baby shower invitation)

Yes still send them bc when the time gets closer they may have a change of plans. I have had people respond yes & no for the wedding & will still be receiving an invitation regardless of what they have told me.
