Downside is it has to be refrigerated up until it's about to be brought out to be cut.
Other option might be ganache.

That's it - buttercream, whipped cream, fondant, and ganache (but that is almost always chocolate, so you wind up with dark brown frosting). I'm hoping to get whipped cream. I HATE buttercream, and I just heard that it costs an extra $8 pp at my hall to get fondant!

You should go to the bakery that your hall is ordering your cake from and have them give you samples or, if that is out of the way, go to any bakery and ask for samples...that is how we figured out what we wanted - plus, cake tasting is fun

Ask your bakery, but whipped cream would work or you can do the crystalized sugar cake (see below)
