For those of you who are having a card box to hold the cards from our guests - are you leaving the box on a table somewhere and the guests will just drop their gift inside, or are you planning to collect the cards as you and DH walk around to everyone and then YOU put them in the box a little at a time? My parents think that its rude and tacky to just have the guests drop the card in the box. I don't know, I thought that was what it was for?? Maybe I am slow

We're going to have our box (actually, it's a birdcage) on a separate table near our sweetheart table, but I'm anticipating that a lot of people will just hand their cards to me or FH as we walk around.

I'm leaving the cardbox on the table. Mine will be too big to walk around with. I think if you walk around to pick up the gifts, you have like a pouch. I feel like it's nicer if you just leave it on the table. I would feel uncomfortable walking up to people and like waiting for gifts. I don't know maybe I'm silly because we all know they're giving a gift (I really hope they are!).

i had one made and NO my guests wont drop it off in there. We will collect them and put the cards in ourselves. We have to go around to all the tables to say hello and that is usually when ppl give you their envelopes. After we'll drop it in the box. It will be on a table behind us

we'll have something on a table...but i figure some ppl might want to hand us stuff directly (when we walk around to the tables). so those we'll have in our hand...and then put them into the card box when we're done etc.

I think a little of both. We plan on having the box close to the Dias table for me and FH but we are going to take them from anyone who wants to hand them to us as we travel around to greet our guest.

my parents have been surprised on how much has changed with weddings (theres was 43 years ago!). A lot of people still walk around with the bag, but i think most are starting to go with the card box, or cage. You just leave it on the table and people drop them in.

At our wedding a lot of the guest handed us our envelopes, but others wanted to put it in the box. If they wanted to give us the card, we took it politely and put it in ourselves (although I wanted everyone to put it in themselves so they could see my pretty card box)

Most of the time if there wasn't a card box I would give it to the bride and groom directly. Or leave it with their gift attendant.

ours was displayed right by our table and our DOC made sure everything went there we touched very few cards ......

yep! If a few people drop it in themselves then whatever, but I fully expect most people to give them to us and we will drop them in!

A little of both! Ours will be set up by our table so those who want can just drop in there. When we go around to the tables we will take it from those who hand it directly to us. Also a lot of people hand it to you as they are saying goodbye.
It is just a place to keep them so you aren't carrying them around all night.

Any wedding I have ever been to They normally give it to you at the end of the night, they come up to the sweetheart table and congratulate you and give you a gift and you can then give them a favor if your not leaving it on the table. That's what I plan on doing.
