Did/Do you talk to your 'baby' while PG and if so, how does the baby know you are talking to him/her and not to someone else in the room?

Re: Stupid Question, but here goes ...
I'm always talking to Baby Bear Cub!! And I'm always rubbing my belly. And it never fails, but every time the Cub starts kicking or my belly starts doing the wave and I tell people to feel or look, he/she stops. So I poke him/her a bit to get him/her to do it again, but I get yelled at for doing that!!!
Joe has been giving the Cub some talkings to lately, I don't think this kid is listening to him though! I'm telling ya, stubborn like his/her daddy!!!!

My girl name is Lola May...when I am shopping, or going for a manicure, or putting on body lotion...something girlie, I sing to her - Her name was Lola...she was a showgirl...
But I do talk to it all the time when I am alone!

Always, all the time! The first time I drove somewhere and wasn't pregnant anymore and the baby wasn't with me - I felt so alone!! I sang songs, and talked all the time. DH would talk to my belly too!! Plus, I could never seem to keep my hands off!!

I always talked to my baby. I used to read to her Baby Oh Baby the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuess (sp?). I dont think the baby knows anything different but I knew I was talking to my baby.

Karen! I love that book! We read it as much as possible b/f bed.
Demetra .... this is not a stupid question at all!!! I was reading just recently that after about 20 weeks the baby has hearing and will tune in to and be soothed by your voice. He/She hears it all day, and this helps the baby bond with you when the he/she is born! Its so exciting to know that they already know you by the sound of your voice. DH should also spend some time talking to your belly (if he's not already! :) ) to enhance his bond with the baby.
If he doesn't already have it, get the book ... The expectant Father. vinnie has it & he reads it faithfully.

Re: Stupid Question, but here goes ...
I know at first it seems silly, but the more you do it, the more you will like talking to your belly! I did it all the time after about 5 or 6 months. I just said whatever, like 'we love', 'can't wait to meet you', told her what we were doing that day. I think the main thing is that when you talk to the baby directly (and not to someone else) your voice has a higher pitch which they respond to more. Also, talking in general, whether it's reading, talking on the phone or to the baby in the womb are just ways for your baby to become more familiar with the sound of your voice.

I talked to the baby all the time and read to the baby as well. When the baby is born they will recognize the mother and father's voice right away.
