So i'm thinking of working on my guest list (it will take my mind away from the scare flight i have to take tomorrow). The family is easy...my mom is working on my side and FH and his dad are gonna work on his side. The problem is friends. WE HAVE SO MANY! And its not like...i met you twice and now your invited. Our bridal party alone is almost 20 people of family and very very close friends.
SOOOO... I was thinking, i'm just gonna go through facebook now and make a SUPER general list. Not all my people are on there, but alot are. I can add and subtract as needed....its just a jumping off point.
Any opinions? I know its a little tacky to start at facebook, but its seriously one place where 85% of my friend are at.

Re: Stupid question on guest lists...
Why not? That's as good a place as any to start.
You should estiamte how many people you can afford at the wedding and then you can either subtract the family from that and fill in with friends, or you can say FH's family gets 40%, your family gets 40% and the remaining 20% is friends and cut from there.
I don't have THAT many friends that I feel I really need to invite to the wedding. We are inviting maybe...hmm 30 friends..

Re: Stupid question on guest lists...
After I did my initial list (people who automatically come to mind) I did look over my FB list to see if I missed anyone I considered inviting. I think its a good way to check and re-check yourself!

facebook has come in sooooooooooo handy. for instance, when i'm not sure what 'johnny's' girlfriend's name, or last name is.

I think you shoulod just sit and make a list and use FB to check it if necessary. Or your phone contacts. If they're not in your phone, they're prob not close enough to be invited to the wedidng.
I started with people closest to me and worked my way out, then checked it by category, college friends, HS friends, etc

If you're not in my phone; you're not even considered on my list!

Just remember you have quite a while to go and your list is going to change a lot- don't send out STD to quickly

Your 100% right....but i'm trying to get a general idea of our list since were going to book our RH within the next coming month or so.
As for the list changing much..yes and no. Work people may change a bit (most will be graduated their residency by then)...but as for 'friends'...we've had the same group of friends since high school lol...unfortunatly we live in a rather close neighborhood...so i feel like everyone in our area of the bronx is invited lol.

Re: Stupid question on guest lists...
I made mine starting with FH and I, and I worked on my family, my parents, then their siblings, their children, grandparents. Then I thought about friends (lucky for me we keep a small group of friends) then added in co workers after I was sure there was room. If you go off your head it only includes people you actually care about and see on a regular basis.

ITA!
I sent out STDs about 10 months out and it was a $2 difference for 150 vs 125, so I went a little crazy with who I sent them to and now I'm regretting it. If you're sending STDs early, only send them to family and close 'Can't live without them' friends, or just family and OOT guests

I'm going to start with FB. I was planning on sending messages to get addresses for friends and some of FH's family.

If you have gmail, google has a great tool for this. You can just email everyone a form and they full in their address and it automatically makes a spreadsheet for you.
