Stupid Question Re: OOT

Hi Ladies!

I'm not very familiar with the whole OOT etiquette ...
What is the proper thing to do for OOT guests? I know many brides on LIW mention the Welcome Bags, but I've never been to a wedding where I received one of these (even for weddings out of state), so I am clueless here ...

Is the welcome bag necessary? Are we supposed to hold a luncheon of some sort? I'm at a loss ...

Thanks in advance, everyone!

I am probably not doing the bag- we are moving about 10 days before the wedding and I have too much going on!

Every wedding I have gone to in state and out has had an oot bag. We are going to be doing it just so put in the necessities for our guests (water, advil, snacks etc) We are holding a brunch the next morning for our guests just to say thank you because we do have a few coming a long way for our wedding.

I have gotten an OOT bag at most of the OOT weddings I've attended. Water, advil, snacks, local map, welcome letter, coloring book for kids.. They're a nice touch but not necessary.

Some people also hold a day after brunch (usually at the hotel where the guests will be staying) for OOT guests and close family and/or invite them to the RD

We ARE having an after party after the wedding, though, for everyone.

Then a brunch on Sunday for all of our family

I think OOT bags are a nice gesture, however the last OOT wedding I was at I didn't get them (I saw some behind the counter and got excited but it was for a diff wedding

I want to do the bags but Its near the bottom of my priority list since its so far away. I want to do them because FH's side is all OOT and I want to take care of them.

We're also doing an after party at the hotel because the wedding will be over early, AND having a mothersday/day after brunch for the family.

This is what we did... We welcomed our guests with Goodie bags filled with light snacks, water, advil packs, gum / mints, local attractions, Wedding timeline and shuttle information. We also had a day after brunch for those who stayed at the hotel. some hotels offer free breakfast or special rates, so be sure to ask.

Thanks ladies ...

I was just telling FH how its proper etiquette, and he just shot me down, lol ... I feel bad though, because I don't want to say 'screw it' to everyone who is making a journey to come enjoy our day with us, you know? He's only been to three weddings, and one was out of state. We did not receive a welcome bag, so I guess he is going based on that ... idk ...

What to do, what to do ...

Re: Stupid Question Re: OOT

the welcome bag is not necessary at all nor is providing the guests transportation. It's totally up to you guys what you want to and can afford to do.

ETA: the next day brunch/lunch is also not necessary at all.
