Stupid question re Thank you's

If someone comes to your e party or whatever party it is and doesn't even give you a card (also no gift)... are you suppsoed to send them a TY card??? I had 2 people that did this... not sure what the proper etiquette is... TIA

Good question lol. I'd say hold off incase they just forgot it and send it in the mail or something?

good question..... could you write a card saying thank you for attending our eparty?!?!? I guess you aren't suppose to assume you will receive a gift from everyone even though that is the proper thing to do.

crashing ...

etiquette says you're supposed to send a TY regardless of whether they sent a gift or not.

BUT i refused to do that ... if someone didn't have the decency to give me a card (i don't care about the gift, just the card), then they don't deserve a TY. i guess i'm passive aggressive

What if they already sent or gave you a card when you actually got engaged?? Most of my close family and friends (ie the ones invited to e-party) I already got a card from!

I totally agree with you! I am dealing with the same situation...guess i'll send a vague thank you...but come on, who cant spend a measly $2.50 for a card?!

I sent everyone TY's... even the people who couldnt manage to pick up a 99 cent card from hallmark... and yes, it was against my will!

We did - its only proper. Espec an e-party where gifts are NOT required. I think it would be rude to not send a thank you - we had 1 or 2 who didn't give a card/gift and we just said 'thanks so much for being there for us!'

Well, we already had a surprise engagement toast/brunch the day we got back from Disney so the closer family who could make it brought a card and others mailed them once we told them the news....I guess they didn't expect a real party! LOL My parents just love to throw events, though, so they wanted another party I guess!

If you have extra cards and feel like being nice and proper, then yes! lol...

Yes I sent out Thank You Cards anyway. I think it is polite to say thanks for coming and celebrating the day.
