such excruciating pain...

So I have been sick since Friday... took so many vitamins and stuff to feel better for work on Monday. Sunday night, I start coughing...bad... I feel the nasal drip (gross, sorry) and I can tolerate it. This morning as I am getting ready for work.. I sneeze. Well somehow I dont know how I must have sneezed, but I pulled a muscle in my back as soon as I sneezed. I dropped to the floor in the fetal position from the pain..I couldnt move for about 20 mins... my dad gave me 3 advils. Off to work I went, bending like an old lady.. I get to work, and tell my AP my situation but tell her I will try to stick it out for the day..
Then fast forward to 2 hrs later and I am dying... I cannot stand or sit from pain.. I call the office tell them I need to leave. I am on my way to the drs office...Tell him im coughing yet the coughing makes my back hurt so bad... he gives me this 5 day antibiotic pink pill...I took 2 on the first day.. still nothing... I took 3 advils...still nothing.. I drank soup, tea and still in pain.. I want to die :( I need to go to work tomorrow, as well as grad school at night.
Sorry, just wanted to vent out my frustration while being stuck in bed! thank you for whoever took the time to read the long vent

Thank you ladies.. its not even the coughing and being sick- that I could tolerate.. its the damn back pain!!! I have icy hot packs on my lower back- dosent do shyt!! and everytime I cough, move, sneeze, any movement what so ever it is unbearable.. I had a similar back pain when I got into a car accident years ago and got hit from behind... HOW does this happen from a sneeeeeeze??? a sneeze??? what the eff!! only meee.

Thank you ladies.. ive been using icy hot packs.. also my dr told me to take a really hot shower, then cold, he said, as weird as that sounds it works.. guess what, still in pain!!! not as bad though..
If I take 3 advils again, will it be harmful to my health? looool I need to sleep tonight

oh what did they give you? the z-pack? (i'm allergic).. it does work, you feel HORRIBLE for the first few days but really do get better by the last. (except for me, who's allergic to everything imaginable! I was on that AND something to stop my reaction to it).

i usually take over-the counter stuff. try getting whorehound candies, they help your throat/cough. they dont taste too good at first, but they work and they taste better after a while.
and I use zicam with aloe, its a nose spray (gel) and i swear by it!

added- also, for your back try the icy/hot pads.. i swear by them too!

You'll be fine taking the 3 Advils again... That's 600mg, which is a moderate prescription strength, it's not going to hurt you if you're normally okay to take 2 Advil.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, I hope the Z-Pak works quickly! If you're still coughing the day after you take the 2nd dose and it's bad enough that it will keep you up at night, I would call the MD to ask for something for the cough.

Have FH give you a back rub when you can! Poor thing!

maybe you can try rubbing something on your back? like one of those ointments that relieve pain? i've heard that vicks works for that too...

thank you ladies... trying to get to bed now.. have an icy hot pack on my lower back,....also purchased a icyhot roller which is double the strength ofthe packs.... so i can use it at work tomorrow..yeah its a z pack i think... im supposed to be taking it for 5 days...My dr asked me if I rather have something for the cough, or something for pain for my back... i couldnt take both because he said giving me medicine with codeine plus antibiotic is not good for my health... i opted for the cough medicine, bc its adding to my pain in my back... anyways ladies, thanks again... hopefully off to bed I go
